About Me
We're a pair of full-time working parents, running our own business just five minutes away. One of us travels regularly, and the other occasionally, so there might be rare instances where we’ll need you to stay over for a few days. Our household includes two young adults (both drivers) and an 11-year-old with ADHD, who is kind but lively, anxious, and a fussy eater, requiring extra patience and support. You must love animals and be confident around them too, as there is plenty of animal care involved in this job too.

During School holidays: 42 hours per week + 30 min unpaid lunch break (Mon-Thurs)

(If you’re very local to us and want to discuss more part-time/flexible hours i.e. larger breaks in the day, then we are happy to discuss options, however 3.30-5.30 is not negotiable Mon-Thurs and flexibility may be more difficult during school holidays)
Salary:

(ideally not to taken during school holidays, unless family are away. You are required to take holiday on xmas eve and three days between Xmas an new year.)
A typical day may look like:
Day starts greeting 3 lively dogs, letting them out, throwing a ball, or taking for a walk if not been out earlier that morning, checking on the animals, feeding if needed
Stable/yard clean, cleaning water troughs, topping up hay etc…
Emptying dishwasher, preparing family meals, cleaning the kitchen, putting on washing/drying and Ad-hoc - changing bedding/cleaning out goldfish/general tidying/running errands, dealing with deliveries etc.
Taking dogs out for a walk
Occasional school pick-ups in Cheltenham if after school fixtures or clubs are on.
Helping 11-year-old plan, manage his time and do homework and plan for next day / pack his bag.
Know the school timetable to ensure necessary PE kits / uniform are clean and helping him prepare for the next day as required
Prepping dinner for family
Feeding dogs
Ensuring we come home to a clean/tidy house
As well as all this, during the school holidays – you’ll be organising to have friends over, being a taxi service, planning a few day trips/fun activities to keep an easily ‘bored’/anxious 11 year old calm, ‘busy’ and engaged and trying to balance screen time vs outdoor time.
About You
You live locally (ideally within 10 mile radius).
You're reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and have a good attendance history.
You'll have some sort of childcare experience - kind and fun loving but can be firm when required.
You’re calm, kind, personable, and love animals, with confidence in handling them (new skills can be taught but you must have had some form of exposure to dogs/equestrianism/farm animals) – naturally you’ll enjoy the outdoors – no matter the weather!
You must have a good grasp of the basics when it comes to cooking and food preparation and timings. Nothing is above you; cleaning is a part of this role and important to us – it is a skill we place value on.
You’ll have good attention to detail in everything you do and you’ll have your own high standards you’ll want to maintain.
Whilst we’re a busy household and lots normally going on, there will be times when it’s quiet and you’re on your own so you must be OK with that and be self-motivated to get on.
You’re good at following instructions but able to think on your feet and show some initiative if needed.
If this sounds right up your street, then please apply, CV aside it would be good to understand why you would be a great fit for the job and if successful that you will be able to provide strong references regarding good character, trustworthiness and reliability.
