Our daughter has been with Emma for two years from the ages of 1-3. We could not be happier with our choice. From her first day our daughter responded well to Emma's warm and sensitive approach and began to look forward to her sessions with excitement. She made a couple of very close buddies at Emma's during this time.
Emma's home is immaculate and well laid-out for children, with lots of educational toys and games, space for playing and a large garden. The house is very close to a small park which the children go to regularly.
As well as being wonderful with children of all ages, Emma is also very good at managing parents; being very understanding if we forget to bring an item or need additional reassurance during the day in times of separation anxiety or similar. When my daughter left her "cuddly" there Emma brought it round to our house before she went to sleep. Emma has good boundaries and is very clear about what is expected so there is no confusion, eg whether your child needs to stay at home due to illness. She is also accommodating if additional childcare is needed, up to the legal limits and always keeping the needs of existing children forefront.
Emma keeps a lovely record of activities, sleeps and meals in a daily diary, and also a more formal scrapbook of milestones.
I have no reservations about recommending Emma and would use her again if I require childcare in the future. Our daughter will miss her a lot, but hopefully we will keep in touch.
My son started after school at Emmas in 2009 where she picked him up at Our Lady of Muswell primary. His twin sisters then joined him 3 years later. Emma became part of our kids extended family and they have all really enjoyed their time with her and her three children. The house and garden provide a lovely safe environment and I used to love hearing the stories about the journeys from school pick up and the adventures in the park next to the house. At pick up time (5.45 for us) the kids were either red faced from playing in the garden or needed to be extracted from the living room where they were doing crafts - it was usually a good sign that it took us 15 minutes to leave the house...
On the practical side, Emma was always super helpful when we had childcare challenges (myself and wife having to be in 2 places at once), really organised on letting us know what was happening (admin, updates, finances) and just really easy to get on with.
But most importantly for us, we trust Emma and never had any worries about her taking responsibility for the most valuable parts of our lives.
Emma has been looking after my eldest, who is now 4, for over 2 years, and my 2yr old for over a year.
I didn't enter into the search for a childminder lightly and feel very lucky to have found Emma on this site: right place, right time! She is exactly the person that fussy old me was looking for. She provides a nurturing, stimulating, fun and varied environment; is a responsible and highly capable childminder with brilliant organisational skills and somehow maintains a great sense of humour, reflected in the kids' daily diaries. She provides a selection of nutritious meals and somehow manages to get my youngest to eat foods he doesn't ordinarily touch at home! My 2 boys settled in without any quibbles whatsoever and needless to say are extremely fond of her and her 3 lovely children .
Her home offers a great space for the kids to play in, with a fab garden and the home is handily situated next to a recreation ground.
I am delighted to have found Emma and would not hesitate in recommending her as a childminder.
Our daughter has been with Emma since she was just 10 months old (she is now nearly 3). Whilst being a home-from-home, the environment that Emma creates is also one of fun, learning, play and creativity. The house is immaculate, safe, secure and spacious, with a big garden for plenty of outdoor play when the weather permits.
Emma encourages the children in her care to be confident and social – going out every day, to different parks, playgroups, shops and libraries. Emma’s family is also very supportive and our daughter adores her children, who clearly enjoy spending time with the kids.
Emma is incredibly thoughtful and organised and always has time to discuss the development of your child. Being first-time parents, we have found Emma to be the font of all knowledge about how to get through various hurdles, from diet to naps, ailments and potty-training (the list goes on) – giving us far more confidence as parents.
Emma has fantastic facilities, her house itself has a great garden and the main playing area for the children is huge, plus, it is situated right on a big park/playground so the kids are never indoors for long! Emma takes the children to parks, playgroups and libraries and also does regular crafts and other interactive sessions at home. She is keenly aware of developmental milestones, and really helpful at guiding you as a parent through any concerns. She is excellent and boundaries and rule setting, the kids know that ‘no means no,’ which means that they’re better behaved at home as a result of her warm but assertive discipline.
What Emma offers is a very warm family environment (her kids are lovely and all tend to get involved with the playtime with little ones when they come home from school) that adds a really special element of friendship and support for babies and toddlers.
My favourite thing as a parent has always been Emma’s personal handwritten diary that charts the day’s activities as well as the personal interactions and funny anecdotes from the day. It must be yet another job to do, but has been enormously precious to us over the months and years. We’re very sad to be leaving, and only doing so because of a house move, but feel very lucky that our son has had the chance to spend these early years in such a loving, fun-filled environment.
Our son (now 8) has now been with Emma since reception. What more can I say? We'd be lost without her.
My son has been with Emma for nearly a year now and he has truly relished the experience. Emma provides a fun, loving and stimulating environment for the children in her care, and makes every effort to ensure they are happy, content and well fed!
Going back to work and having someone look after our son was a daunting prospect for my husband and I, however we feel extremely lucky to have Emma as his childminder. He enjoys going there each day, playing with the other children of various ages and going on outings, and best of all, we receive a daily written diary and a verbal update from Emma, so we don't feel we've missed anything.
Emma is trustworthy and passionate about what she does, which is evident in the relationships she develops with the children...my son does not want to come home with me on some evenings!
I would highly recommend Emma for childminding services as I feel her personality, professional conduct and caring nature contribute to making her an exceptional carer for children.
I could not be happier with Emma or sing her praises high enough. From day one, I instantly knew that my son would be happy in her home and I felt such trust and assurance leaving him with her. She really is everything you hope and dream of finding in a childminder. Emma has looked after my son since before he could crawl at 9 months, starting with one day and progressing to three days now he is a running mini-toddler of 15 months. Emma’s home is always so welcoming, warm, relaxed and loving. My son always has a day that is balanced by interesting activities, lots of time outdoors, yet good playtimes in the house too. All this interspersed with nutritious home-cooked food, eaten all together at the table. Emma is also really organised and the admin side of childcare is taken care of seamlessly. There are daily diary entries for my son full of everything he has been up to. Emma’s own three children are wonderful and I love how they clearly enjoy spending time with the little ones. My son adores them. I feel truly blessed and thankful to have found this peaceful, happy, fun place for my son to enjoy every week.
Emma provides excellent care with activities out including playgroups, farms and museums. A broad range of toys are available and our son always comes home with highly creative craft projects. Her qualifications and experience set her above the rest. Our son has created strong bonds with her children over the last 2 years that gives him a warm home from home environment. A highlight at the end of the my day is to read a well written (often amusing) journal of how our sons day has been.
My little boy has been minded by Emma for the last six months. From my first meeting with Emma, I felt sure that he would be happy there. Emma has a fantastic set-up. There are loads of toys, she lives right next to a recreation area with playground and she often takes the children in her care to local music sessions and playgroups. I am a stay at home mum myself and I am very happy that Emma does the things that I would do with my son but he has the extra stimulus of Emma herself and the other children in her care. Emma keeps a little diary of how our little boy's day has been and my husband and I always looking forward to reading it. Emma has a fantastic sense of humour and from what I can tell is cool as a cucumber! My little boy is quite active and needs a constant eye kept on him, which Emma does. Emma is our little boy's 'home from home'.
