Jenny is a great childminder!
After taking a year off work for maternity leave, I had to return full time, which left us the very hard decision of finding the right form of childcare for our daughter. I investigated some local nurseries and decided that I would like to go the childminder route so that my daughter would have a ‘home from home’ experience.
I saw quite a few people before I met Jenny. When I entered her house, I immediately felt at ease and Jenny took the time to engage with my daughter and make sure she was happy before we started the interview process – something which some of the other people I had seen, hadn’t really done. Jenny has been childminding for a very long time and was very clear with regards to processes, guidelines and formalities. At the same time she was very personable and showed an immediate warmth and affection for my child, which automatically made me feel more comfortable in having to leave her with someone other than a parent.
My daughter started with Jenny full time in April 2010. She went down to three days a week in October 2011 due to a change in my job. I can count on one hand the amount of times that my daughter has been upset when I have dropped her off – and they were on days where she was slightly unwell. She absolutely loves it at Jenny’s and I have no regrets whatsoever about our choice. In fact some days when I have finished work early and gone to pick her up – she hasn’t wanted to come home!
I have no qualms at all in recommending Jenny to look after other children – we are only leaving due to an imminent house move. I did worry in the beginning that not putting her in a nursery would mean that my daughter wouldn’t get to socialise much with other children her age, but on the contrary, Jenny regularly takes her out to different toddler groups during her time with her and she has developed a fantastic character and made lots of little friends who they meet up with regularly.
Having Jenny worked brilliantly for us and we will be sad to leave her. She is a great choice.
