About Me

Hello, my name is Ruth and my husband is Richard and we are both registered childminders. We live with our 5 children aged from 5-18 years in a large farmhouse, only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Harrogate. Our farmhouse is set in 24 acres of grass land, which means we have lots of room for the children to run about and have fun. We have lots of animals on the farm, including lambs, chicks, ducklings, piglets and calves, which the children will have the opportunity to experience if they want. The animals, however, do not have access to the children’s play areas. The children have access to a large enclosed garden with lots of outdoor play equipment including a water play area, sandpit and playhouse. Inside, the whole ground floor of our house is dedicated to childcare, with three rooms to play in and lots of toys to choose from and a large kitchen diner for the children to paint in and be creative.
We promote children's learning and development through play and activities tailored to their age and ability encouraging them to understand their environment and learn new social skills. We combine this with daily outings to the park, local soft play, toddler groups and simple walks to the local woodland area.
We work with parents to meet the needs of the individual child and monitor their progress in their individual folders following the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We aim to provide healthy, home cooked meals for the children and use food that has been raised and grown on our farm, be it potatoes the children have planted themselves to apples from our trees when possible.
