My Requirements

I am looking to give the right candidate a discounted room in my house as a ‘lodging’ for very little childcare/home help. Literally only a few hours per week. I’m hoping that this arrangement will appeal to anyone working in childcare who wants their own space. A female working in childcare is the only person I would allow to live with me and the kids and I don’t really know how else to go about getting a lodger with such strict stipulations so I had the bright idea that someone on this site who could help me with the house and kids a little here and there could possibly benefit as well.
The arrangement can be discussed in more detail obviously but I’m very flexible and happy to work around your other work commitments, even if you have a full time job. All I require is an extra pair of hands every now and then. The weeks I don’t have the kids I may instead ask for a bit of gardening help or cleaning. I tend to have a lot of projects on the go at any one time and like people who aren’t afraid to get stuck in with things. Probably ironing school shirts too because it’s my most hated task so if that’s your worst nightmare this isn’t for you. ?
I work long hours when the kids are at their dads so I’m not even around much those weeks and you’d have the entire house to yourself.
It’s a big place with parking and secure gated driveway though I don’t necessarily need you to be able to drive. Experience with more than one child, CRB check and good reviews from previous families are a must.
There are so many reasons I’d like a childcare worker to live with me but not least because I had a live in nanny when I was little and the pressure it took off my mum and the relationship I still have with her now is so valuable. It takes a village and all that, and I’m trying to do it all on my own at the moment.
I have two girls 9 and 7 and a boy almost 6. We also have two cats so allergy sufferers may not be suitable.
I am not in a position to offer full time hours or free lodging at the moment unfortunately hence needing to charge for the room. This is only going to be for 12m and then my situation will significantly improve and we can reassess our agreement. I should be able to get £650pm from a lodger as it’s a great room in a beautiful Georgian detached house but with the childcare/home help arrangement I will significantly reduce this. Exact amount to be determined upon your availability and experience/skills.
I attend Uni (long distance) every other week for two days and one over night stay so if you were able to be at the house during those times if it clashes with my custody arrangement it would be a godsend. I’m sure there would be more hours available during school holidays too if you were available but again I’m flexible and happy to make other arrangements with my parents if your other work doesn’t align with this.
I can’t allow pets of any kind due to the cats sadly and no smokers please. Vaping and the odd glass of wine I cannot judge you for! ?
Bedroom can be furnished to your taste, we’ll go to ikea and have some fun kitting it out! If you have your own things you’d like to bring that would also be fine. The room is big enough to be more like a studio with tv area/seating and some kitchen equipment so you wouldn’t need to spend your down time with me/kids if you’d rather have your privacy. Only one main bathroom in the house unfortunately but there is a separate toilet.
I’m looking for someone who can start the first week of November.
Rent wise all bills are included, no deposit required and no minimum term. As long as it works for both of us I’m happy and if not, you’re free to leave without owing me anything.
Employment wise I’ll have to look into a contract that suits the arrangement but we can work that out when we know exactly what we’re doing.
I’d happily allow guests including overnight ones, as long as me and the kids are not around at the time and there aren’t any parties held without me being invited ?
