unreliable/unprofessional
Angele was lovely with the children and was a nice enough person to have around the house - but then turned out to be really unreliable and unprofessional.
She said she felt 'really happy' with our family and had a 'great time' on the Friday and reviewing her first week with us, but then told us at 22.30 on the Sunday evening (yesterday) via a message that she wasn't going to come back on the Monday. My children (2 and 5) are understandably devastated, and we, the parents, (full time professionals) are in a complete mess work-wise because of the lack of childcare at such short notice.
I assume she has secured a more lucrative offer elsewhere, but there is really no excuse for such behaviour from someone who works in this field; it's a breach of contract, breach of trust, and breach of her fundamental responsibility as a nanny towards the children.

I understand your disappointment, I enjoyed my time I had with the kids, I would’ve stayed for them had the environment not been as regulating.
Unfortunately the atmoshphere was extremely controlling, with parents enforcing power play for the kids which goes against my ethics. For example, it was insisted for the kids to address me as “Nanny Angèle”, further degrading me and showing I am a worker. I was told to send pictures as well as a description whenever the kids were fed.
Being new to the city and having just rented a room I had to stick around so I could pay my bills but at the end of the week I was miserable, and could not push myself to return. I didn’t have a new family to work with when I left, that was a risk I took so I wouldn’t be forced to work another week. We did not have a contract together yet, and the first week was a trial week, with me only having to work 2 full days on my own.
Had I known that you have had many nannies come and go before I accepted the role, I would not have continued to work.
Best wishes,
Angèle
