About Me

Nanny with experience not limited to support work and education, seeking full or part time work.

My Experience

I have worked with children in many capacities including support work, pastoral care and classroom support. In my role as support worker at The Hamlet Centre I was required to support children with disabilities and complex special needs to engage in fun and stimulating activities, as well as assisting in one to one feeding and personal care. I also used Picture Exchange Cards and Makaton
to communicate with autistic and non-verbal children. I was also expected to work to individual care plans and record where appropriate any accidents or untoward incidents in a calm and professional manner. I worked with children from ages 4-12 and 13-18.

In my role as house leader at Sewell Park Academy I was responsible for the pastoral support and student welfare of students aged 11-16. My role involved running lunchtime and after school detentions, running meetings with parents and carers and dealing with issues related to home and school. This often involved taking statements from children regarding bullying and conflict with other students/peers.

I also have experience of working with two 11 and 12 year old boys as a classroom assistant. One was autistic and one was an EFL student (English as a foreign language) both of which had a barrier to learning and required one to one support in the classroom.

Other experience includes working as a Pastoral Carer on The National Children's Choir of Great Britain residential trip in 2018. I was required to provide 24hour pastoral support including organising children into house teams, lunch duties, providing drinks and refreshments before bed, running activities and escorting children to and from voice coaching and rehearsals across the Shrewsbury School Premises.
