Hiya! My name is Rebekah Holmes and I am currently pursuing a career in my real passion in life, by nannying whilst taking a sabbatical from my studies at the University of Edinburgh, in LLB (Bachelor of Laws). I am an organised, confident, and friendly person, keen to undertake a new challenge and broaden my experience with childcare. Personally, I enjoy sports and arts while also maintaining my connection with the Gaelic culture from my childhood in the Isle of Lewis. I am currently living in Inverness but am willing to move back down to Edinburgh if and when I find the right family to work for.
My Experience
I have been nannying for a 3yo girl and 1 yo boy since January 2015, but as they recently moved away, I am looking for a new family to work with!
Prior to this, I looked after a 7 yo girl and 3 yo boy for 2 years, a 3 yo girl and 1 yo boy for 6 months, and a 7 yo boy, 4 yo boy and a 1 yo girl for almost a year. I babysit regularly for 10 and 3 yo brothers, and another boy who has just turned 3. Whilst I worked part time with my last family I was also working at a charity organisation for children with special needs.
As afore mentioned, I previously nannied for 10 months in 2012 for a family in Edinburgh with 3 children. I loved this job so much, and grew equally as close to the family as the children did to me, but it had to come to an end because of my move to Inverness. The next two families I worked for in Inverness part time; one ended after 6 months when they moved, but the other I was with for almost 2 years and grew so attached to. I miss the children dearly but fortunately still babysit for them on occasion!
I have worked with young children and young people across a wide spectrum of ages, from crèche and teaching at Sunday school as well as babysitting; and I hold a full disclosure for those relevant roles.
The family which I babysat most regularly for in Edinburgh had 5 children whose ages ranged from 4 months to 10 years old.
As well as buddying a first year requiring extra attention in my final year at high school, I mentored a 1st year class, which included spending a registration with them on a weekly basis and helping them individually with issues they face or concerns they had.

Rebekah has been working with us as our nanny on a full-time basis since January 2015. Over the past 7 months we have been so pleased with how well Rebekah has adapted to the needs of our family. Both our daughter and son adore Rebekah and we have been delighted with how well she has cared for our children. Knowing that our children are happy and content makes going to work all that easier and I have never had any question over the excellent care that our children receive under Rebekah's watch. She is fun-loving and attentitive and very good at adapting her way of working depending on the needs of each of our children. Rebekah can often be found locked up in Lucia's (age 4) bedroom role- playing with dolls and dancing in the living room or sat on the floor singing Robbie (age 1) his favourite song while playing catch with a ball. Rebekah has become an important part in all of our lives and we will miss her when we move back to Aberdeen. We feel so lucky to have found Rebekah, she has made our time in Inverness much more enjoyable. I would throughly recommend Rebekah as a nanny and any other family in Inverness would be lucky to have her work with them.
Overall
Rebekah looked after my son (aged 2 when she started) and also looked after my 6 year old daughter before/after school and during the holidays. I knew I could trust her to keep them both safe and happy, and they loved her company. She was good at organising activities for them outside our home, doing crafts and baking etc with them inside, and taking them for outings. She was a great help to me, and only finished with us when I reduced my working hours and therefore did not need help with childcare any more. I would be happy to provide a reference to any potential employer.
