Due to the COVID situation, my little one (2.5 years) was with Julie when nursery closed down and stayed over until mid-August.
I have been extremely happy with the care he has received, and the great progress he has made whilst in Julie’s care. I cannot tell what a relief it was to find such a nice person with whom we immediately clicked!
Julie’s house is clean and well organized and he had great fun playing with all the toys available and with the other children in her care. Beyond all this though, it is Julie’s warm and friendly but no nonsense approach which sets her apart from other childminders!
Julie follows all the distancing measures that the virus had us adopt and despites the fact that parents were not allowed into the house, Julie had always be welcoming.
She provides a wide, fun range of activities including plenty of outdoor exercise. I know my little one has enjoyed water play, drawing and sticking and cooking as well as outings to the park and playgrounds.
Julie is a great communicator and has no trouble in gaining my boy’s confidence and therefore encouraging good behavior and kindness and compassion to others, both skills which are important to us at home. When he steps outside his boundaries she responds with firm but kind discipline explaining what we would like to see in terms which he understands. When he is hurt or feeling under the weather I know that he feels happy to be comforted by her and I am confident that she can administer either first aid or medication following all the correct procedures and completing the necessary records to ensure his health and safety.
I am also aware that Julie ensures good personal hygiene in encouraging all the children to wash their hands before eating and after using the toilet but as well throughout the day.
Julie completes some kind of WhatsApp’s diary detailing what my boy has done each day. From this, I have a complete picture of his whole day. This helps me to feel involved with his care and that I can talk to him about his day.
All in all I am thoroughly happy with the level of care my little one received and I would absolutely recommend Julie as a great and reliable childminder!
