About Us
St Richard's is positioned in the centre of Ham, Richmond. We are lucky to benefit from unusually generous green surroundings, well laid out buildings and our very own, newly refurbished, swimming pool.
This is an intimate and nurturing place to learn, for every child, whatever their background. The atmosphere is calm, ordered and purposeful – never rigid or over directed - but disciplined, respectful and organised. We have high aspirations for all our pupils and believe that through stretching children we build their confidence and self esteem.
St Richard’s is proud to be an inclusive church school, growing rapidly in number, faith and expectation. We believe that God has a plan and purpose for each of our children, which goes well beyond results, although they of course play a significant part. We welcome all families - of all faiths and none - who are passionate to see their children fulfil their God-given destiny.
Our Childcare Provision
Acorns class offers childcare provision for children over the age of 2, providing them the opportunity to play and learn together in a secure, loving, Christian environment. We believe that young children learn a lot about themselves, others and their environment through play, so great emphasis is placed upon the provision of a wide range of play activities to enhance their development. Equal emphasis is also given to fostering a sense of community, where each child feels valued and is able to grow in trust and self-confidence. These experiences contribute to the growth of a stable and happy child, easily able to make the transition into Nursery and beyond.
Acorns is an afternoon provision which runs daily from12.30pm to 3.30pm in our Nursery classroom. There is a very relaxed settling-in policy, where parents are encouraged to stay with their children for as long as necessary. The majority of new starters attend at least two afternoons a week.
For children attending our Nursery, Acorns offers an extended session from 11.45am to 3.30pm, or a lunch session from 11.45am until 12.30pm.
Parents should apply to the school for an Acorns place once their child has reached 18 months or more. Acorns is very popular and parents are encouraged to put their child on our Expression of Interest List. Places are offered each September, and again at the start of the Spring and Summer terms if there is availability.
For information on admissions and to register your interest for a place, or to arrange a tour, please contact the school office on 020 8940 7911.
