My Summary
About Me
I cover Childcare for the Heswall area. I'm an Ofsted Registered Childminder and a member of the PACEY organisation (previously known as NCMA).
I have GCSE Childcare, CACHE level 3 in Childminding Practice and EYFS training, and level 3 in Early Years Education and in Literacy and Language in children age 2-4.
I renew my first aid and safeguarding courses regularly to ensure the children have the best care within my provision.
I have 4 older children of my own, 1 stepson aged 24, 2 boys aged 22 and 20 and 1 daughter aged 11.
Also have 2 small dogs called Toby and Missy.
Previously I worked in the accounts department in the Royal Liver in Liverpool and gave that career up when I had my children. I registered as a childminder in 2009 due to looking after many friends and family's children so they could work, I thoroughly enjoy being around children, but I'd say my strength in this job is to work with the parents to ensure my care reflects what their wishes are.
In my setting within my home I have a multifunctional room, this room is our kitchen, dining and living space so whilst children play we can interact and be fully observed at all times, particularly for the young under 3 year olds.
In the play area there are box drawers labelled at child height, a toy kitchen, a huge range of resources for the children to choose from themselves, and a large range of books too.
This room overlooks the back garden which is accessible via the bifolding doors which we open most of the time to allow free flow play.
Outside is an enclosed garden with lots of outdoor apparatus for the children to play with such as; swings, slides, sandpit, balls, water trough and much more.
As I don't drive, everywhere we go is by foot, but this doesn't stop our daily outings to toddler groups, parks and libraries, on the odd occasion we visit beaches, museums, farms and all by means of foot and public transport, but that is part of our activity on our day out and it teaches a healthier way of life, plus the children get plenty of exercise this way.
My provision of care also includes an evening meal, drinks and snacks.
I ask if a packed lunch could be provided for lunch times, this is to allow more time for myself to be hands on with the children and also helps for outings as we can leave promptly taking the packed lunches with us.
Evening meals are prepared from scratch and all food is healthy and fresh, offering a balanced diet.
There's always fresh water available for the older ones to help themselves, and for the younger ones there are staggered snacks and drinks offered through the day at regular intervals.
I encourage the children to be independent, individual and confident.
A lot of the time in my care play is child initiated, but I do have activities planned and some adult led activities during the week following my planning for the children, as they learn and develop mainly through play.
It's all about being a child and having fun in the comfort of a home from home environment :)
My Experience
From being the eldest cousin of 9 children and often being asked to babysit, to having my own 4 children to raise alongside my husband, I also have many years of caring for children for friends and family.
However I have been registered since 2009 and caring for children officially since then, I implement the EYFS on par with Ofsted regulations and enjoy the children being out and about socially at toddler groups or parks to help them develop strongly in one of their main key development areas - personal, social and emotional development.

Having had childminders on & for 23 years, I appreciate a childminder who goes over & above what's expected. Nikki is 1 of these people. My younger 2 were both with her & she now looks after my youngest. I recently had to drop a day due to transport issues & Amy cried when I told her she had to go somewhere else on fridays. She loves going to Nikki. Needless to say, I need to know my child is happy whilst I'm at work & I couldnt ask for anyone better!
Nikki has been childminding our twins for 6 months. Having been unhappy with a previous after school club they have both responded fantastically to Nikki and her home environment. She is a very capable childminder who genuinely has childrens' interests at heart. Our sons are happier and more settled than they have ever been in their after school setting. Nikki uses a wide range of activities that always seem to engage them, including baking, arts and craft and celebrating special days and events. Nikki is very professional, a great influence and we have every confidence in her.
Having used this minder for several years I was reluctant to leave the perfect service supplied by Little Peeps. Both my children have been looked after by Niki and in fact they have become part of the family. They are now older and as such can make their own way home so Niki's care is no longer required.
During my childrens time under her wing, they have had great experiences and have been fed and looked after well. I can highly recommend Little Peeps to anyone looking for a minder in the Heswall area. The service is first class and there was never an issue of any kind. Niki went well above the call of duty on many occasions when I had a last minute unforseen change of work plans. She always pulled out the stops to assist whenever or wherever she could. I would have no hesitation is using Niki in the future should the need arise in the knowledge that my children were in perfectly safe and competent hands.
Both my kids loved coming to Nikki whilst i was at work. She works so closely with them keeping them busy with crafts, playgroups and trips to the park.
She offers fantastic home cooked food, and snacks that are given is mostly fresh fruit or something equally as healthy.
If you are looking for a childcare provider that offers a home from home environment then you have found it in little peeps.
My son cries every day when he goes to preschool, he never cried when i left him with Nikki.
