About Me
My name is Alexandra Candasamy and I live with my husband, 11 year old son, 3 year old son, 3 chickens, 1 cat and 1 soppy Labradoodle, in a spacious house in Knaphill with a large enclosed back garden. We are down a quiet road but still within walking distance of local shops, playgrounds, Brookwood County Park, the duck pond and canal and various playgroups and toddler groups that we enjoy going to each day.
I have lots of experience in childcare from raising my own children and since registering as a childminder over 8 years ago, having completed the ChIldminding Introduction Programme. I have completed a Safeguarding Children course with Surrey County Council and a 12 hour paediatric First Aid course.
Before childminding I worked in Cardiovascular Research at St Thomas's Hospital in London. However, commuting to London did not fit in with raising my young family, and I love looking after my sons, planning activities and taking him out to fun places, hence the career change!
I have several years experience of teaching dancing to children aged 3-15 years, but had to stop when I took my job in London due to time constraints, and I always hoped one day to be able to go back to working with and teaching children in the future.
I like to get out and about each day and go to various playgroups and toddler groups, gymnastics, singing classes, parks and playgrounds, gardens/forest walks/National Trust places and softplay centres.
I currently only have space for pickups from Knaphill Lower and Junior School, which are walking distance from my house. I have a full clean driving license so we enjoy trips out to places like Wisley, The Look Out and Woking Park in the holidays.
I provide a home-from-home childcare setting, and am a fun, engaging, and professional childminder. I am committed to raising the children I care for in a caring, nurturing and happy environment where they can play, learn and develop as individuals.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
£6.50 per hour, all outings and home cooked meals and snacks (not milk) included
£18.50 per day after school care pick up at 3, care until 5.30 (snack and light tea included)
£23.50 per day for before and after school care (arrival from 8, breakfast included)

My son loved going to Alex's house. She was recommended to us by a friend who's two children went to her. My son felt instantly at ease with her and he has continued to be his most chatty with Alex. I found that she was an incredibly patient and warm child minder and it's clear she loves her job. My son enjoyed their outings to parks, imaginative play centres, soft play, the library, to watch the trains and maybe best of all her playing out in her huge garden. She was fantastic at helping him to potty train, she encouraged him to eat new things and to enjoy activities such as drawing and biscuit decorating which he would't do at home. My only regret was not sending him sooner!

We were very fortunate to have found Alex a few months before my daughter started school. Alex had just set up and so we had no reviews to look at. The minute we walked into her house and met her and Jack we knew she was the one. She is kind and patient and always has a smile on her face. After my daughter started as a before and after schooler we moved my then 1 and half year old son who did 2 full days with Alex. To say he loves it there is an understatement. He has been to more places in Surrey than I have and has learnt so much about plants, animals (he knows all the various types of ducks) and can identify more construction vehicles than my husband can. Alex provides a safe environment and plans weather appropriate activities. She also provides a wholesome meal and healthy snacks. There have been days when David (Alex's hubby) has come home early and my son has cried when I have picked him up. If there is anyone he loved more than Alex it's probably her husband!!
My kids and I are extremely sad to have to leave Alex (only as I am changing my hours to school hours). We have been with her for 3 years and we know that we have made friends that will last a lifetime.
Thank you to Alex, David and Jack for being such a big part of our lives and we hope that continues for a long time.

I always hating leaving my daughter, more for my sake than hers, but Alex made the whole experience very comfortable for both me and my daughter.
She has a kind and friendly manner and does a great job of keeping the children entertained and stimulated.
I started feeling guilty about taking my daughter home as she always had such a nice time with Alex.
Alex has a lovely family home setting with an amazing garden for the children to explore. She provided good, balanced meals and got my daughter trying more than she ever would for me at home while taking into account any personal preferences and needs.
Now we've started school we will miss Alex greatly.

Alex has been looking after our now 4.5 year old daughter for almost a year, one day a week. Emily can be very shy and needs time to get used to people and new surrounding. However, she didn't have any problem with Alex and very quickly warm to her and Jack (her son).
Alex brought out Emily's creative side and certainly advocates fun with learning, we were very pleased with Emily's progress with Alex.
Emily was very sad when we had to say goodbye because I went on maternity and no longer needed childcare. My husband and I highly recommend Alex, she is a brilliant childminder!

I started leaving my son Oliver with Alex from a very young age of just 6 weeks for a few hours a week. Alex is a very reliable, calm and caring child minder, and I know my son is very happy when I leave him as I have often received picture messages of a very smiley happy baby! Alex is incredibly attentive to Oliver’s individual needs, and is always taking him out and about, even if it is just a walk to the park!
It is lovely that my son is around Alex’s son Jack, who plays a key part in entertaining Oliver whilst he is there.
I am so happy to have found somewhere Oliver is so happy and can highly recommend Alex to any parent. The fact that my son is so happy with Alex is a reference in itself!

Alex has looked after my 2 yr old daughter on several occasions. My little girl can be quite shy and suspicious of new places but settled in straight away at Alex's house and loves playing with her and Jack. She has a lovely house with lots of toys and space to play (plus an amazing garden!).
Alex is very calm and caring and I'm sure she will make an excellent childminder.
