About Me
I am a private tutor with several years experience of delivering education to a range of people, from young offenders to secondary aged students. I am also a mum to a 2 year old boy and thoroughly enjoy the rewards of working with young people. Having been interviewed by OFSTED in my current job, I was told that my input is 'invaluable and appreciated by students and parents alike.'. Although my current role tends to focus on pastoral needs, I am also adept at delivering lessons when required and supporting students in classes.
My Experience
I currently work as a Year Leader (Head of Year 10) in my local Academy. Although this does not involve direct teaching of the students, my role indicates a much more in depth involvement with the students on a pastoral level. This can mean liaising with other supporting agencies, guiding students academically and having a holistic knowledge of every individual in the year group.
I have worked with children for a long time now, from my first set of work experience as at the age of 15 in a primary school, to facilitating a finance and debt course to young offenders in a prison environment.
My Qualifications
I attended the Folkestone School for Girls and received all A-C grades on my GCSEs, including Mathis, English Language and Literature, Double Science, Geography, History, French, Graphics.
I continued to study my A Levels there and received an A grade at AS Level in Media Studies as well as three A-C grade A Levels in History, English and Psychology.
I achieved a second class degree with honours at the University of Kent in Cultural Studies. This involved a complement of Sociology, Modern Culture, History and English studies.
Since leaving university, I have completed further study, achieving a Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance and passing the PTLLS (Certificate of Teaching in the Lifelong Sector).
My Availability
Currently restricted to evening, weekends and school holidays due to work commitments.
