My Summary
About Me
I have been a registered childminder since 1997. Recent OFSTED inspection (January 2022) I have a large home with a separate playroom. I have a seven seater car and love exploring our city with the children. I am a very relaxed and patient person which helps in this line of work. I enjoy singing, reading, crafts and puzzles. I am an accredited (quality assured) childminder and regularly attend our cities network meetings, including my consortia (support/guidance/funding towards helping children with SEND) . This ensures that I am up to date with current practices and training regarding my job and access to the funding for (15hrs/30hrs x 38wks per year) free childcare for 2,3&4yr old . I am close to Orrell Park train station, ideal for parents commuting to the city centre or towards Ormskirk. We have 2 cats.
My Experience
Started caring for children when I took my NNEB straight after my A levels at school. I worked in a nursery for 8yrs gaining valuable experience from mature dedicated and qualified staff. Decided to register to become a childminder when wanting to start a family of my own. Over the years I have continued my personal and professional development, digressing into playwork for 10yrs whilst managing two out of school clubs. I have gained valuable knowledge and experience with dealing with many challenges that the children I have cared for have encountered. ADHD, Asperges, asthma, vitiligo, domestic violence, PKU deficiency, childhood bereavement, 'Mikie' button fed children, many allergies including nuts, the list is endless and I am always happy to learn new skills and share my knowledge to aid others. Overall I do my best to get to know every child's strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes and encourage them to become life-long confident learners, through play, sharing experiences and understanding how boys and girls learn differently.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified Early Years Practitioner- graduated in 2010, also a level 4 play worker. I have completed 'Every Child is a Talker' course over (12wks) enabling and encouraging ways to help all children (including English as an additional language) become confident speakers. Updated my Safer Recruitment and Managing Allegations course, Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid. Attended a 5wk night course on challenging behaviour- including ADHD, ADD and ODD- best practices to help create a balance with children who show challenging or creative behaviours. Attended a portage course to support children with additions needs. During the current pandemic I have completed CoVid risk management online course and attended two zoom courses one with Nasen and another through my local LA to aid support children with Additional needs. Also attended Zoom meetings with Parents and professionals to support the children in my care.
My Availability
Weekdays 7.30am- 5.30pm. Full time, part time and term time only, all considered. My usual holiday weeks include over Christmas/New Year, one week during the Easter holidays, 4weeks during the summer holidays. Also all other bank holidays. Forward planning-I aim to be working term time only within the next year or two.
After breakfast and dropping off my school children, I take my preschool children out each day to various places, soft play centre/library-story time/ stay and play toddler group/ playbox/safari park/museums the list is endless.
During the pandemic my work has continued and I will be back to full capacity from Sept 2021. Outings and visits are kept to a minimum to maintain socially distance etc and minimise the risks of CoVid transmission. Stay safe. Be alert!
