About Me
I am a mum of a 30 year old. I have always been keen to encourage him to achieve his best.
I am passionate about animal welfare and have several beautiful cats of my own: as tutoring is only in my own home, please be aware of this for allergy purposes.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent a number of years working in the financial sector and when my son was young, worked with children as a registered Childminder. Many of the children in my care still come to see me and I have developed great friendships with several of the parents. I am First Aid registered and also hold a qualification for First Aid, Mental Health First Aid plus DSL level of Safeguarding.
My Experience
A Secondary School Teacher mostly working with Years 7 & 8. I have supported children in SATs preparation for many years having previously worked in Year 6 for some 12 years. I have privately tutored children in maths and literacy for KS2 and continue to do so. I am a very patient person and work hard with children to give them confidence and encourage their own development. My success rate for SATs has been outstanding both in school and privately. I have also, in the past few years, supported students for GCSE English and Maths (Foundation) with great success.
I also support touch typing with all children from Year 3 to Year 11 supporting Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association which I have done since 2006. This is something I am able to offer to any student with or without dyslexia.
I am a committed educator and have a proven outstanding track record in this field.
My Qualifications
I am educated to degree level and attend ongoing training sessions within my current job. I am qualified to Level 3 Safeguarding (DSL).
My Availability
I currently have the following availability. Please message me nearer the time for available slots. I can also arrange for any student who wishes to learn to Touch Type to do this at two schools in Walthamstow - one is Tuesday evening 4.20 - 5.10 and the other 4.10 - 5.00. This is an invaluable skill for students to have.
