I'm delighted with Julie, who in my view is an extremely competent and capable educator. She is highly motivated and dedicated to my son and her other charges. Part of the reason I chose her was that she goes out every day to a variety of groups, and also spends a lot of time outside doing a range of stimulating activities. She is confident in her knowledge and her abilities, and very calm and clear when dealing with any problems. We catch up every day and it really does feel like a partnership; we exchange information about what we've been doing at home and 'school', and I feel she extends what we already do at home. She is always keen to ask how I am and see how I am feeling and I can ask for advice when I need it.
My son went to Julie from 11 months to over two years. He was barely crawling when he first took him she was clearly determined to get him walking, which she did. She takes him to regular soft play sessions which has helped with this and also his confidence no end. Now his fine motor skills are good she has now introduced arts and craft sessions, while his communication has suddenly exploded with new vocabulary emerging almost on a daily basis at the moment.
My son clearly greatly enjoys his time with Julie and his little friends, and she clearly really cares for him which is lovely. I could not really have asked for much more.
Julie has been absolutely amazing with our 20 month old. Our daughter connected with her from the first meeting which was wonderful to see and so reassuring for me (a first time mom super anxious about leaving her with anyone else). She settled in with no problems, never getting upset at drop off, on the contrary, always super excited and reaching for Julie. We love that they are always busy with various activities at children’s centres, libraries, parks, soft plays. Our little girl comes back laughing and happy, she’s become more independent in play and her language skills have improved. Julie is warm and has a genuine affection and interest in kids (to my surprise most of the childminders we met during our search seemed to lack this). She’s in a league of her own, an absolute gem and I really wish we could take her with when we move!! I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Julie was wonderful at settling in our 15 month old son who had been with us solidly before that due to lockdown. He loved his year with Julie (we left because we moved) and formed very strong bonds with her and the other children. She is extremely assured and confident with the children and has boundless energy and enthusiasm. I really appreciated that they were always outside every day in a park (unless it was pouring with rain and they'd go to various drop in centers, libraries, etc.) able to run ragged. My son was always happy being dropped off with Julie and I knew we were leaving him in a loving and fun environment where his individual needs were recognised and catered for. She was also a great support to us offering sound sensible advice about sleep, food, social interaction, etc.
