About Me
Hi. I'm Gwen, an Ofsted registered childminder. I live with my family in a small, rural village where we are fortunate enough to have a village playing field on our doorstep, a play park perfect for outdoor activities and a forest school area with its own mud kitchen, trail and fire pit. This gives us the opportunity to do lots of outdoor activities as well as off-road paths for walks and nature trails.
We really enjoy spending time outdoors in my setting and have a love of animals. I have my own horses which the children really enjoy visiting and getting to know. We also have 3 guinea pigs which the children can hold and help to feed.
We also enjoy regular trips to our local area. These include the library, the community farm, nature reserve, toddler groups, our childminder group and more. We also go further afield too and I have a membership for Martin Mere and the National Trust. Where we visit often depends on the children's interests and what they are learning at the time.
My house is spacious and has a separate playroom, living/dining room, kitchen and bathroom all of which are downstairs making access easy for children and families. Children have a variety of toys and resources to access both independently and with guidance from myself.
I have good links with the village school and the local community. I also run the Squirrel Scout group in the village. Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat to discuss your requirements. I may also be able to do school runs to other schools in the Rainford and Upholland area.
My Experience
I have a 12yo daughter of my own and have been childminding for 8 years. I am paediatric first aid trained which I update every 3 years and I'm a Safeguarding Designated Lead which I update every 2 years. I evaluate my CPD needs and do webinars on a regular basis where I feel that I need to update my knowledge.
My Qualifications
I have completed the Lancashire Council Childminder Training including Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene. I am continually doing training courses with my local authority to assist me with gaining extra knowledge as well as weekly webinars to keep up to date with any changes.
