About Me
Me and my husband are ofsted registered childminders our names are Jo and Mick brown. We have been running our own business for nearly 18 years .We have 2 assistants that works alongside us everyday.
We open from 730 to 5.00 Monday to Thursday and Fridays 730-1pm We have an extension to our home which is our childminding room and a big outside space that the children access daily in all weathers.
We have 1 dog within our home called Bailey who are excellent with the children.
We have a key worker system in place at our setting so your child forms a bond and settles quickly with us (this does depend on each child how quickly they settle)
We work as a team to give children an enabling environment to grow and learn.
We aim to provide a home from home environment to help children feel at home and settled ready to learn through their play as we provide new activities daily
We encourage learning through play, and work within the relevant framework (EYFS) to ensure your child gets the most from their experience with us.
My Experience
We are very experienced childminders offering care for babies to older children.
We have been doing this for nearly 15 years and update our training frequently.
Any courses we attend we implement them into our work straight away and revise policies and procedures every 3 months to
Update or just to refresh our minds
My Qualifications
Myself and my husband hold childminder qualifications
Lauren and Kerris both have level 3 and are our registered assistant’s
We all attend regular training to keep ourselves updated and refreshed.

My Fees

Our fee’s are charged at £5.50 hour that includes all meals and pick ups and drop offs.

Wonderful setting. Jo and her partner are welcoming and lovely. My child is always happy and giggling when they come to pick him.He loves it there so much.

My boy started with Jo and Mick when he was 15 months old. He attended full time from when I finished my maternity leave. I'd viewed a couple of nurseries before meeting Jo, and immediately I felt comfortable with her, the setting and what they provide. My boy is now 5 and still attends after school every day, and he is collected by Jo, Mick or Lauren. He loves it there, and was very prepared for his first day at school. It is home from home, and the love they have for all of the children in the setting is evident.

The best thing I ever did was send my son to this setting. My son had been to childminders previously, but no setting compares to here. I have and would continue to recommend Jo and her setting to anyone and everyone. A family member also uses this setting after the recommendation from myself. They are just as happy as I am. It is not just a setting it is a family. The children are cared for like they are family members. They know each child and their likes and dislikes. They ensure all children’s needs and requirements are meet. Making changes to their setting if needed, to support children and their progress. My son had some very challenging times with his behaviour and they never once gave up on him. They continued to work with me and together we worked through these challenges together. Their support was unwavering. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. They go above and beyond for every child. They put me in touch with the correct people to ensure his transition to school was seamless. He still attends before, after school and in school holidays. I choose my sons school around where the could accommodate drop offs. Whatever I say will never do these guys enough justice. If you want to be able to leave your child with someone who you know they will be well cared for and never have to worry about them. H & K is the place for you!

I have never made a better decision than to start both my boys at H K Childminding. My eldest started when he was 2 and was so behind in his talking, he was shy and at home we were trying to do everything to build his confidence and encourage him to talk. Within a few weeks of starting he was starting to say words and within a few months he was a complete different child. He always comes home talking about his childminding family and how much fun he’s had and how much he is learning. He has started school this year and the school cannot believe how forward he is in everything and that is all down to Mick, Jo and Lauren! My youngest has just started and I honestly couldn’t wish for anyone better to look after my children when I go back to work. The children are happy and excited to go and they always leave with a smile on their face. Nothing is too much trouble and they are so supportive with any concerns you have. They really are the best of the best🤍

My daughter has been coming to Jo Mick and Lauren since she was just under 1 year old. I was nervous about leaving her at such a young age but Jo and mick made it so much easier and I can see how much Olivia loves them. They carry out lots of activity's indoor and outdoor and walks out even in the snow ! The setting is spacious and engaging I will be so sad when my daughter has to go to school they truly are such genuine knowledgeable and kind people.

I don’t even know where to start with these guys, my little boy has been at this setting since September and he’s come on leaps and bounds already, Jo mick and Lauren are all absolutely amazing, all so understanding and want and do what’s best for every single child in there care. Nothing is to much trouble for them. They don’t just give up if your child needs extra support or struggles with certain things like my boy. If you’re looking for a childminder I would 100000% recommend these guys. Me and my husband had lost a lot of hope after nobody was listening to us, Jo mick and Lauren have gave us so much more hope.

My LB has been with Jo and Mick since July and he absolutely loves it. The first thing I noticed when meeting Jo and Mick was just how friendly, down to earth and welcoming they are. I was apprehensive with leaving my LB in childcare but after meeting them I felt completely comfortable with the idea. I love knowing my child is being cared for in a loving, homely setting by people who clearly love being childminders. It's so evident just how nurturing they are by how much my LB has come along in the last 6 months. Another selling point for me was their playroom. It is in a league of it's own with every toy and activity imaginable, my LB can't wait to get in there... He even forgets to say bye to me now.
An amazing setting with amazing people... Can't recommend enough. We're very lucky to have a place.

My LB has been with Jo & Mick since March 2020 and they have helped him develop into a confident, dextrous 17 month old. He enjoys home cooked food every day and the play facilities they have inside and out are fantastic. He is so well looked after and he is excited every morning to go and play with them. They truly provide a home from home environment. Highly recommended.

My daughter started with Jo and Mick when she was 8 months old. She starts school this year and I'm dreading leaving them. Jo and Mick are absolutely fantastic as both childminder and friends. You become part of the family. Nothing is to much trouble. They have helped our daughter flourish and become the character she is today. They go above and beyond their childminder role. They pull out all the stops to ensure our daughter and us, are happy. I could not think of anyone else I would trust with my daughter. I would recommend H&K childminding in a heart beat. Thankyou both for everything over the years ❤️❤️❤️ xx

Highly recommend Jo and Mick as childminders. My son started with them when he was 10 months old and in the years he's been there he has grown and learnt so much. Nothing is ever too much and if you have any concerns or worries, they will do their best to help and reassure you. I wouldn't go anywhere else for childcare!
