My Summary
About Me
I work for myself (Dyslexia Go) as a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor, Level 5 - supporting students with Dyslexia (Primary and Secondary) 1:1, based in the Guildford area in schools and from my home. I use a multisensory approach, using resources to make learning memorable, while giving Students the chance to find out what style of learning works best for them (metacognition) and above all fun. Sessions have to be fun and they have to fill Students with enthusthiam and a confidence boost.
I went back to Education in 2003, after spending almost a decade in Marketing/Advertising. Following my BA in Education, I completed a PGCE, Early Years/KS1 in 2005 and have experience with children of all ages 0-18. My experience from working as a Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 teacher involved a lot of 1:1/small group teaching using resources and approaches to suit all needs, including children with SEND.
I've worked with Connexions and as a Teacher in schools, as well as running and teaching in daycare settings.
I've always been interested in learning through whatever way works for the learner, and since finding out that my own child has Dyslexia, it's made me want to find out everything I can and to help others.
My Experience
I have experience of working with Connexions (Support to teenagers: somewhere they could pop in for support and had a dedicated Personal Adviser who regulary checked in with them for support) and as a Teacher (PGCE) in schools, as well as running and teaching in daycare settings. In addition to this, I have a more commercial background from working in Advertising/Marketing, Software, Communication companies.
