About Me

Creative, caring and enthusiastic qualified primary teacher with 7 years’ experience in childcare and within schools. Passionate about children becoming well rounded, healthy, happy, motivated and resilient young people who are able to take on new challenges without a fear of failure. Skilled in creating various ways to help children learn and succeed, not just with school work but with extra-curricular activities as well. Excellent organisation skills and flexible to changes in schedule with ease and confidence. Dedicated to caring for young children across all aspects of their lives. Eager to become a part of a family and contribute to all aspects of family life.

My Experience

Between 2018-2022 I worked as a Reception Teacher, teaching children aged 4-5. During my teacher training, I gained experience in KS1 and EYFS. I have a solid foundation of the EYFS framework and 3 years’ experience putting it into practice. While I was in KS1, I was provided with opportunities to implement a range of assessments in various subjects and play a key role in preparing the children for their SATs. I have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subjects taught within KS1, including extensive experience in teaching phonics following the Jolly Phonics programme and more recently undertook training in floppy’s phonics, as well as experience in teaching the full curriculum. During last year’s lockdown, the school was open to key workers and vulnerable children, here I planned and taught KS1, reception and nursery children. I have developed a range of behaviour strategies in order to deal with a range of challenging and complex behavioural needs. This has been demonstrated in my pivotal role in the development of a special educational needs child within my class. Despite the additional requirements to accommodate the pupil, this did not interfere with my ability to monitor and challenge others. During my lessons I ensured all children were engaged, allocating time within my lesson plan to challenge those of higher ability. It was during these times, I could turn my attention to those student who need additional support. I am particularly proud of the strides made with his social interaction. This has positive mental health benefits and is key to his long-term academic development, although his improvements are wide, not limited to social improvements. I have worked closely with the SENCO lead, hospital specialists and their parents in pursuing the best outcome for the child.

At Teesside High School I volunteered in their EYFS and KS1 for 5 years, here I supported the teachers in reading, writing and across the curriculum. I delivered structured play activities as well as helping run ‘Happy Club’. For 2 years I also worked within the Art department in the high school supporting year 7 children with various art projects from still life drawings to designing and making their own clothing. During the summer of 2016, I volunteered at Puddleducks Nursery working with newborns to age 4. Here I assisted preparing baby food, ensuring health and safety regulations were adhered to and ensured children were safe at all times and fully engaged in supervised play and learning activities. All these positions helped in developing supervisory skills as I was required to maintain supervisory care of the children during class and during break-time sessions. At all times withholding a balance between full-time academic student and professional work placement volunteer, working alongside professional peers.
From 2015 to present day I have been babysitting children from new-born stage to age 7. Duties include preparing and cooking healthy and nutritious meals, changing nappies, following bedtime routines such as bathing and bed time stories as well as helping with homework, creative activities and taking them on say trips out.

During my teacher training I have been in placements within 3 schools within the Early Years departments and within Key Stage 1. Here I am teaching up to 80% of their timetable. I have gained extensive experience in teaching phonics, early mathematics, English and science, and in doing so have developed in my abilities to teach these in an enthusiastic and creative manner. I believe my strengths lie in being a creative and enthusiastic teacher with the ability to support pupils learning with alternative teaching approaches. During these placement I have gained extensive knowledge in Special Educational Needs, learning a variety of different ways and techniques to best support their development and learning. Having high expectations of children’s achievement, progress and social development is pivotal to be an effective practitioner, this is a skill I deem to have and integrate into my teaching and within school life. Furthermore, from my volunteering and PGCE placements, I believe I have extensive knowledge of the Early Years and Development Matters and I have developed excellent understanding of how young children learn.
