About Me
Hi, my name is Ann Metcalf, I am a Ofsted registered Childminder, I live with Graham my husband and my adult Son Anthony. We live in a detached property, we have a large conservatory that I use for the childminding. I promote outdoor play and Outside I have a large enclosed garden where the children play safely, there is only one gate to the garden which has a bolt at the top. Every downstairs room in my house has been inspected and passed for use by Ofsted. My whole property is smoke free and I do not have any dogs or cats. At my last Ofsted inspection, on 29/11/16 I was graded Outstanding.
I decided on my childminding career after being made redundant from my position at the Job Centre where I worked as a personal adviser and really like working face to face with people. Childminding was diverting my people skills to be used with children who I have always enjoyed playing with and I now love helping children to gain skills outside of their own home, different life skills that they will need to help them be school ready when the time comes for them to attend school.
My Experience
I have been a registered childminder now since November 2012 and I really enjoy my job working with the children. Anthony is my assistant and like myself he has his First Aid certificate, a clean CRB and a Safeguarding certificate. I must say we like working together with the children, we have so much fun while teaching the children their EYFS goals by learning through play.
I have currently worked with babies from the age of four months, and children up to ten years. I am registered for children from birth to 16yrs.
The parents of all my children do rely on my service and we have a mutual trust and respect of each other. Their children are happy in my setting, and I do receive feedback from parents which supports me in this knowledge. I have received several great references from Parents, available to read if you would like to visit.
My Qualifications
I have taken several courses in childcare covering Safeguarding of Children and the Prevent Duty required by the Government, and many more, current training certificates are available on request. I hold a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate and a clean CRB check.
I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Childcare in November 2015.
My setting was rated Outstanding by Ofsted at last inspection in November 2016.
My Availability
I open, Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 5:00pm. I do not work evenings or weekends but one off emergency requests I'm happy to discuss. I am not registered for over night care.
I Currently have, full/part time positions available for children under 4yrs but no space for school pickups. Availability can alter from week to week so please always contact me at the time you are looking for childcare.
I am registered with Kirklees to offer the Funded Early Education & Care for 2, 3/4yr old children. I am also offering the 30 hrs childcare for 3/4 yr olds. I am registered with the Government to accept tax free payments.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
Morning session 7:30 -12:15 - session price £21
Afternoon session 12:30 - 17:00 - session price £21
Full day session £39
School drop off £10 / pickups £15
When I Close for my holidays, Bank holidays or any other Appointments, I do Not charge fees.
When I’m Open, and for any other non attended days by children, full contracted fees are required..
If retainer is required it will be discussed at the time of signing contracts
Add hoc requests outside normal contracted hours are £5 per hour
Late payment £5 per day extra to contracted fees
Outside of opening hours. Before 7:30am and after 5:00pm are £15 per hour by agreement only.

Ann looked after our daughter from 11 months old for close to a year between 2020-2021. We met Ann at her house for an initial conversation and our daughter had a settling in session not long after this. Ann took the time to explain her childcare approach and maintained regular contact with us during the day. We were super impressed with our daughter's development during her time with Ann which demonstrated Ann's commitment and dedication to her job. We would highly recommend Ann if you are considering childcare provision in the Huddersfield area.
