About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder and nanny. My setting is free flow and I am very much a believer in making the most of outdoors. I am very interested in the Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches to Early Years education.
I work from my dedicated, airy and very light playroom and separate lounge. Children are free to chose what to play with, whether it is loose parts, dolls house, jigsaws and more. They are able to use their creativity in their arts and crafts using art straws, paint, wax and coloured pencils and chalks. The setting also has a wonderful light box and mirrors to investigate solid objects in 3D. We don't just stay in the home; with access to the South Downs just a 5 minute walk away and the sea down the road, we make good use of the world around us. We go to 'pick your own' farms, children friendly farms and many local parks. The setting does have its own outside space with play houses, side and ride toys and our own setting's rabbit called Velma! We go to a local toddler group once a week and have regular visits to the library, to support the large and varied bookcase here in the setting.
My Experience
Childminder, nanny and youth worker. I also teach 3 to 5 year olds at weekends. I have worked in a conference nursery over the Christmas break for the past 4 years. References on request.
My Qualifications
Child Care qualifications:
Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce (Early Learning and Child Care)
CYPOP5 (as stand alone course for Childminders)
Full Paediatric First Aid course updated on 23/03/17 with anaphalaxis awareness and full defibrillator training
Level 2 in Food Handling
Safeguarding
Other qualifications:
Certificate in the Humanities (CertHumOpen)
Level 4 in SEN
Other training:
One day courses in Special Needs
Teacher training at Sunday school
My Availability
My setting is open from 8am until 6pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 1pm to 6pm on Wednesday and from 8am to 4pm on Fridays.
The setting is open both term time and school holidays. Closed over Christmas/New Year.
