About Me
Hi, my names Linda. I have 3 children and have enjoyed mother hood immensely. Unfortunately my children have grown up and my son and youngest daughter have both moved out. My oldest daughter did move out too but then she moved back home. I am a kind and caring person and love to have a laugh. I enjoy teaching the children all kinds of things from growing their own vegetables, which they really enjoy, to arts and crafts. I really enjoy teaching them to make their own Christmas, Easter and Birthday cards for their parents and family.
I am very understanding about different religious, ethnic and cultural back grounds. I am very flexible when it comes to childcare as I have, myself, been in difficult situations where child care hours were a big issue. I have always had a professional and social relationship with all parents of children I have cared for. All parents are please with their child’s progress under my care. Every child is different and I enjoy getting to know the child itself and finding out their strengths and weakness’ so we can work together to give them the best start in life.
My Experience
I have been a child minder for five years. It was slow to start with but its given me time to achieve the diploma which I am pleased about as it was something I thought I would never do. My family were very supportive with my choice of career and have help and supported me a lot. I find helping children who have difficulties is wonderful, especially when it is to do with speech and when the parent comments with excitement on what has been achieved; I deal with many ethnic families and find I am asked advice on many things, I also deal with many different cultures and I feel this is good for all children to experience. My own children loved having different cultures come to stay with us as they grew up, because we took in exchange students from other countries who came to learn English at the collage. I have always encourage my children to keep their minds open and never be judgemental towards anyone. I stick by this "rule" with the minded children as well.

My Availability
I feel as a child minder that you have to be very flexible with the hours people work today, and I try to help the best I can. Usually if a parent does have a problem with hours they come and discuss it with me and it is usually resolved with both myself and the parent happy with the decision. I am happy with arranging extra shift cover and unexpected work cover.

My Fees
My fees are £3.50 per full hour. Under certain circumstances I have allowed charge for a half hour e.g. £1.75. I don't usually work Bank Holidays but have done in emergency cases, depending on circumstance. Unfortunately if this is the case then I do charge double rate £7 p/h. If you have to take your child out of my care for any reason and wish to keep the place then a retainer will be required for the length of time you keep the placement. If I am ill or cannot care for your child for any reason or am on holiday then a fee will not be charge. However, if your child is sick then you will still get charged for that day. I have an infection control policy which means I cannot allow your child into my care if they are ill and contagious.
