My Summary
About Me
I am Samantha Boorman(Sam), a registered childminder in Plympton. I hold an NVQ3 in childcare and education. I am registered by Plymouth City Council to offer Me2 funding and the 3/4yr old funding.
I have been a child carer in many capacities since 1987, including... live-in/live-out nanny, pre-school assistant, teaching assistant, nursery worker and caring for a child with cerebral palsy. I became a childminder in 2003 when my son Jamie was born, I then had a daughter, Katie 3 years later. we all live together with my husband Laurie who is also my assistant. We are both first aid trained and police checked(DBS).
We live in a quiet road 5 minutes walk from Saltram House.
I aim to create a warm, caring and friendly atmosphere where your child/ren feel safe and happy, and where s/he can develop good relationships with other children, myself and my family. I aim to help your child/ren develop intellectually, educationally, personally and socially by ensuring they enjoy a purposeful, planned but informal range of activities taking into account their individual needs.
I run an equal opportunities business where all children here are of equal worth, whatever their gender, race, social class, religion, culture, ability or disability. All children have the opportunity to go to toddler/play groups, parks, library, nature/woodland walks and trips to soft play areas, the zoo and the aquarium. I have a large variety of different activities, games and experiences to suit all ages including: happy land, little people, construction toys, ball pool, painting, gluing, playdough, dressing up, music and much more. Your little ones will also have fun in our garden which has a play house, slide, climbing equipment, sand pit, ride on toys and pop up tents and tunnels.
I supply a daily diary/learning journal where I record sleep patterns, food intake, nappy changes and a brief description of the activities carried out throughout the day. I also include photos and informal observations in them.
I ask you to provide the following according to your child's needs: coat appropriate to the weather; change of clothes; nappies/creams/wipes; bottles/formula/expressed milk; packed lunch; sun cream/hat.

My son joined Sam from 9months old and my daughter from 2years and have been with her for two years. Sam has always provided a safe, friendly, creative space for my two children to flourish and they have absolutely loved their time there. They are always off on adventures whether down the road to saltram, toddler groups, pennywell or to woodlands! Sam often meets with other childminders and arranges a wide range of activities so the children have plenty of opportunities to socialise with other children and explore new skills.
Very highly recommended!
Sam is like gold dust when it comes to childminders, truly outstanding. I've had experience with using a nursery and another childminder before using Sam to provide daily childcare to my twin girls. I cannot fault how she takes care of my girls, keeps them safe in a caring environment and develops their skills and experiences with fun action packed days in various settings. She takes them on day trips regularly and expands there experiences. Both my girls settled in instantly and they always look forward to Sam days! Can't recommend her enough!
