My Summary
About Me
Hello! I am an MNT qualified maternity nurse and postnatal doula with over 15 years experience of working with newborn babies and their families. I am also an accredited Holistic Sleep Coach (level 6- degree level) and Postnatal Doula.
I love my role for two main reasons:
1) It is a complete privilege working with a family at such a significant time in their lives.
2) No two days or two families are the same!
When I work with my postnatal hat on, my role really is to help you however you most need on any given day.
This may mean soothing a fractious baby while you sleep; sorting a mountain of laundry; cooking evening meals; being a listening ear over a cup of tea or playing with older siblings to name but a few examples. I was a primary teacher alongside my postnatal work and am as experienced with older children as newborns.
If I come to you as a maternity nurse,
I’ll help you establish very gentle, age appropriate sleep and feeding patterns for your baby, while ensuring we remain child responsive. I find that gentle day routines help babies sleep in a more settled way at night, which in turn means you can enjoy your parenting journey more fully. I never leave a baby to Cry It Out.
I prefer working 'with' rather than 'for' parents, coaching you how to read babies’ communication cues. This is important because responding effectively helps you to develop a secure parent-infant bond and build parental confidence more quickly.
I offer practical, emotional, informational and physical support to mother and baby and help with:
~ establishing feeding (breast/bottle/mixed)
~ reflux treatment, management and allergies
~winding and calming effectively
~safe sleep guidelines
~ how to spot tired cues and settle for naps
~organising equipment
~ensuring the smooth running of the nursery
~taking care of baby laundry
When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my three young adult children, walking my dogs, tending my garden, cooking and seeing my friends. I enjoy exercising and living a balanced lifestyle. Most of all though, I like being outside in nature whatever the weather.

Clare looked after our third child during the night twice a week from 2-6 weeks and was a huge support to our family during those early weeks. Clare was calm, caring and collaborative in her approach to looking after our newborn and we felt very quickly at ease with her. Clare was punctual and professional providing thorough notes on feeds, nappies and settling times / methods. We would happily recommend Clare to another family.
Clare looked after me and my twin boys for 10 weeks during the night from when we came home from the hospital. She came highly recommended by both my NCT teacher and yoga teacher. Clare is very experienced and knowledgeable but it’s her wonderful nature that I would give as the number 1 reason for recommending her. She is very caring and has a calming effect on the 4 of us. She helped us get into a routine and gave us lots of helpful advice.
