About Me
Hi my name is Shirley Brown, I'm an OFSTED registered Childminder. I live in the Risepark area of Nottingham in a detached property with my husband Robert and 2 children. (I'm around a 2 minute walk from the bus terminal at Risepark).
My son was 21 in August, he is in full time work and holds a DBS. My daughter was 18 in August and also holds a DBS and she is due to start her third year at college.
My husband works for the local authority and has his own fencing business.
I began childminding in May of 2007, the reason behind it all was so I could take my son to and from nursery at Risepark and be with my daughter who was 6 months at the time but still be able to do the job that I care so much about.
About my property:
I have a conservatory on the back of the house that I use as a play room which leads onto the blocked paved areas and artificial grassed area of the garden. I have a canopy around the side of my property where the children can still play under if it rains lightly so they are still getting plenty of fresh air.
The rest of our home is also used for childminding it has a large lounge and dining area for chilling in and being social at meal times. 3 bedroom's (which are not accessed by the children) and the bathroom upstairs.
I have been childminding for the last 17 years and have cared for lots of children on a short and long term basis, I currently do a drop off and collection school run for Risepark Primary and Nursery School, full day care and school holiday care.
Before I became a childminder I was a nursery nurse at two private day nurseries for a total of 10 years, I have my level 2 and level 3 NVQ in childcare.
I started off as a trainee and worked my way up to senior of the toddler room. I have experience of working with children from the ages of new born right up to 11+
So I have a total of 27 years experience of working with children of all ages.

My Experience
* I have two children of my own.
* I was a nursery nurse for 10 years before becoming a childminder. I have completed lots of courses and update my skills all the time. Gaining my level 2 & 3 NVQ in childcare.
*Whilst I worked at the private day nursery's I was able to complete a British Sign Language level 1 course which helped me as I was a key worker for a deaf child for around 5 years from when she started the nursery until she went to school. I'm a little rusty now as i haven't had to use it since I left the nursery in 2007
*I have worked as a childminder now for the last 17 years and have loved every minute of it and continue to love my job.
My Qualifications
* I have a GNVQ in health and social care which I completed whilst I was at sixth form college.
* I also have an NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare which I completed whilst I was working at the nursery.
* I have a Pediatric first aid certificate which is updated every three years. (updated On 10/12/2022)
* I have a Home based ICP which i did before i became a childminder.
* I have completed a safeguarding children course and is updated every 2 years. (Last updated January 2022)
* I have a food hygiene certificate rated a 5 by the city council. (updated in 2020)
*I have an ICO certificate which is updated each year. This is for me to be able to take photos of your children to send over to you or store for development records until no longer needed.

Please ring for details, I charge on a daily basis not hourly which also depends on what times you will be wanting childcare for. The childminding rates below are just an idea.

My daughter was with Shirley Brown from the age of 5 until nearly 11, and we couldn’t have asked for a better childcare experience. Shirley provides exceptional care, treating each child as if they were her own. The children are always engaged with a wide range of activities, whether indoors or outdoors, ensuring they have a happy and fulfilling experience.
Shirley emphasizes good manners, respect, kindness, and safe play. My daughter especially loved the variety of meals offered, catering to everyone’s tastes.
Communication with Shirley is outstanding; I was always informed about any changes and received her holiday schedule well in advance. During half-terms, my daughter eagerly anticipated the exciting activities planned outside of her home.
To us, Shirley Brown is like family.

Shirley is wonderful. We've been lucky that she had space for our son. Kuba was stressed before first day with Shirley, but he settled in very quickly. He loves to play football with Shirley's husband and daughter ❤️. There are days when I fetch him from Shirley, that he doesn't want to go home 🤩😁. Absolutely amazing person😍. We are lucky to have such a wonderful person to look after our son.

I have known Shirley as a childminder for 15 years. My youngest daughter currently goes to Shirley before and after school 3 days a week. She provides a lovely environment for the children and keeps us well informed. Thank you Shirley for being so kind and caring.

Shirley is an amazing childminder. I was so fortunate to have her as my first experience childminder and an excellent one. She has been looking after my little boy for almost a year now, since he was 6 months and she has done a brilliant job. My son loves her and together with her family they have become like a 2nd family to him. Shirley goes above and beyond. There are times she has been off or out of hours but has stepped in when I have had emergencies, etc. We don't just drop and pick up our little boy but we usually chat and get a daily briefing. I can never thank her enough and therefore, highly recommend!!!

Shirley Has been my children’s Childminder since my daughter was aged 2 and now 12. My son is still cared for with Shirley at present from 6months and age 8 now.
I’ve always been happy with everything Shirley has done for my children and always goes above and beyond to make them and us happy. My children look at her as a second mother and will always hold a special place in theirs and our hearts.
All I can say she is such an Amazing human being that will not only care for your children but treat them as one of her own.❤️❤️

Both our daughters went to Shirley for childminding, Shirley is absolutely fantastic with them both, our youngest went to her from 9 months old, her house is beautiful and child friendly, Shirley kept them both safe and we regularly got pictures and updates day to day, this made me feel so reassured the girls never wanted to leave at the end of the day as they had so much fun, she provided a safe fun environment, Shirley was like a second mum to them, very highly recommended!
