My Summary
About Me
I am a 32 year old former teacher with 10+ years in working with children. There is one thing for sure that I have known from a young age is that I would like to work with children. I have recently left my career in teaching to expand my skills working with children of all ages. I currently work for a wonderful nanny family after school as well as working in nursery settings and private tutoring for a select few individuals.
Hobbies & Interests: I feel that I am a creative person. I love arts and crafts, drama and baking (even though it may not always turn out the way I had planned) and I love going for walks to parks, country walks, forests and beaches. But most of all, I like to have fun with others! I am also a massive animal lover who has happily provided pet sitting care for others in my spare time.
My Experience
I have varied past experiences in working with children both in their own homes and larger settings.
I have provided childcare in the form of babysitting and nannying for many families with multiple children (age range 18 months-12 years old). I have also worked with children aged 3-5 years in nursery settings.
My main experience of working with children professionally is being a primary school teacher for 6 years. In this time I worked across all age stages in the school as well as Support for Learning teacher for the whole school. This allowed me to work more closely with and provide support for children who found specific academic areas difficult in the everyday classroom setting as well as children who were extremely able and needing further challenge in their learning.
In my spare time, I volunteered for Girls' Brigade Scotland since the age of 15 and I became a trained officer aged 18.
All of these experiences have allowed me to understand the importance of play based learning in the development of a child holistically. I feel the skills and personal attributes that I have gained and developed through my teacher training will be very useful in creating a caring, secure environment for your children.
My Qualifications
I graduated from University of Aberdeen in 2014 with BEd Primary Education degree. I also have Food Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid qualifications. I am more than willing to update any additional specific training if required to work with your child.
My Availability
I am available for: Part-Time Care, Last-Minute Care, Live-Out Care.
I am currently only available Saturday and Sunday mornings (depending on your location) for tutoring. I can be available for babysitting at weekends if planned in advance.

At the beginnin of lockdown I asked Shaunna if she could help my daughter with her Maths as she has always dreaded any work related to it. She is still in Primary school and is doing well but she has always lacked confidence when it came to Maths. Shaunna has helped her grow in confidence and she the makes lessons fun. My daughter geneuinely looks forward to her virtual sessions with Shaunna. It is definately down to her skills that she has been able to engage my daughter in a subject she used to dread. I have seen a real difference in her attitude towards Maths in her school work. I would have no hesitation in recommending Shaunna for her caring, fun and personable approach as well as getting the work done.
