About Me
My name is Bev, I am 29 and I currently work in a day nursery as a senior early year’s practitioner. I have been at the nursery for 5 ½ years and have experience of working with children ranging from 6 weeks old to pre-school age. At present, I work in the baby room as the room leader. The children in this room are between the ages of 6 weeks and 18 months and we accommodate up to 14 babies a day. My role includes planning a variety of fun activities for the children, running these activities with the children, building parent partnerships, following individual children’s routines, weaning babies, potty training, and managing the baby room team consisting of 3 other staff members. I use the EYFS framework in my current job and have a good understanding of this. I love to work with children and watch them grow and develop and I particularly enjoy planning lots of fun age appropriate activities to promote the children’s development including messy play and creative activities. I believe parent partnerships are really important and I always enjoy working alongside parents to achieve the best possible care and education for their children. Over the years I have worked at the nursery, I have worked with hundreds of families and gained a lot of experience.
I am friendly, caring and hard-working and I am really passionate about caring for children and providing a safe, nurturing environment. In my spare time I enjoy going swimming, taking my two nephews out for day trips and socialising with my family and friends. I also work one evening a week for a mental health charity and I have a small cupcake business from home which I enjoy doing at the weekends.
I live in Hemel Hempstead and am happy to travel within Hertfordshire. I am happy to work with children of any age.
I have a full, clean driving license and am currently in the process of buying a new car. I am a non-smoker. I have a CRB check which was completed through my current workplace last year and I am happy to provide references if needed. I have an up to date paediatric first aid certificate.
I am available for babysitting on some week day evenings and at weekends.

My Experience
In the summer of 2013, I worked as a nanny for a family with two young boys while their nanny was on holiday and I really enjoyed this experience, in particular going out on day trips such as picnics, to the park and to the zoo. I assisted with the children’s routines and made the children dinner, gave them baths before bedtime and got them ready for bed.
My Qualifications
I have a 1st class degree and masters in psychology and before pursuing my career in childcare I worked within this field. My jobs included working as an assistant psychologist for young children with autism, working in an adolescent psychiatric unit, and working as a cognitive behavioural therapist so I have a variety of experience of working with children with special needs. I feel that my background in psychology is really beneficial when working in childcare as I have more of an understanding of child development, challenging behaviour and special needs from modules I have completed. I also feel that from my experience of working in this field I am able to remain very calm and patient in stressful situations, such as when children are displaying challenging behaviour.
