About Me

I am a 43 year old University graduate who has been working for the past 16 years as a professional nanny. I have a BA in Education from Cardiff University and I also carried out a PGCE in Lower Primary Teaching. I worked as a School Matron in a Private Boarding School in Sidmouth, Devon. This was a residential live in position where I was responsible for the pastoral care of the boarders during term time. I then have worked as a Nanny for professional families in Devon. I am currently Ofsted Registered, have an up to date Paediatric First Aid certificate, am on the Enhanced updated service and hold a clean driving licence.

My most recent nanny job involved working for a Neurosurgeon, caring for her 2 young children, 3 days a week 8-6.30pm. My job for this family involved carrying out all nursery duties, taking the youngest to a wide variety of age appropriate activities locally. We spent most of our days out in the local environment, regardless of the weather and attended lots of toddler groups. I carried out the school runs to the local private school, carried out homework tasks including daily reading and the leaning of phonics, prepared all the children’s healthy meals from scratch, carried out domestic duties within the home. During this time I was also working Nights in a small residential setting with youngsters with complex needs including Autism and Epilepsy. This was a really interesting job for me and I carried out various training to support these children, including safeguarding and positive behaviour support.

Before this post I was working for a lovely family in the Crediton area, caring for their 3 children, 3 days per week, again this was a varied post and I worked really hard supporting their three children.

Prior to this I was working as a Nanny for a family in Tavistock, West Devon, caring for their 2 young girls 2/3 years 3.5 days per week, plus a 7 year old boy from a previous relationship during the school holidays. I was working 38 hours per week with additional babysitting.

I am a university graduate who has a BA in Education from Cardiff University. I have also carried out a PGCE in lower primary teaching and have worked in a private boarding school in Sidmouth as a Resident School Matron where I was responsible for the day boarders welfare but also the Boy Boarders who lived in the school during term time.

I am a hardworking, reliable and honest person who has had extensive experience working with children of all ages in both an educational capacity and also a pastoral one. I worked for 17 months for a family in London with 4 children all of which were under 10 years. I worked full time hours 7-7pm, 5 days per week with additional 2+ babysits per week. I also had sole charge care of the children when the parents go away. I have had the children for 10 days whilst the parents travelled to Australia on holiday. When this happened I was confident to have all four children in the house and continue their daily routines effectively. I am a good multi tasker. Having had four young children to care for I had to work at an efficient and quick pace.

I have a strong educational background and feel that my previous jobs in schools assist with my role as a Nanny. Having also carried out a PGCE I have experience with teaching phonics and helping children learn to read. I am good at finding age appropriate activities and tasks for the children to do. I am competent at assisting with all types of homework and encourage the children to be independent and to help them into good routines. I work well on my own and use my iniative. I have always built good working relations with my employers and colleagues and have an easy personality. I have a good relationship with the children I work with and am fair. I have used various therapeutic methods with the youngest child to get her into a quick and efficient routine in the morning when getting ready for school. I have also played a key role in potty training.

I grew up in Devon and moved from Exeter to Okehampton in 2016 and then to Tavistock. I wanted my own children to grow up on the moor, in a town rather than a city. I come from a good family background my father is a retired Headmaster and my mother is a retired primary school teacher. My brother is a Consultant A and E Doctor in Cheltenham. I am healthy and fit. I am always on time and won’t complain about staying later than anticipated.

I am an active person who enjoys being outdoors and love spending time with children doing various sporty outdoor pursuits. I have spent time teaching children to swim and in my London employment spent all summer swimming with all four children in their holiday home in St Tropez. I enjoy organizing games and activities for the children including treasure hunts, scavenger hunts and mini Olympics. I myself am also very arty and love indoor arts and crafts and assisting with art based open homework projects. I have also loved teaching children art using my personal artistic knowledge and taught a Year 2 class observational drawing for a year. I love any craft based activity and am good at making things out of junk.

My Experience

I have worked for professional families in the Exeter area, but also in London where I was a full time live in Nanny in Hampstead for 4 children. Having always worked for Doctors I am flexible to their needs and realise there hours require someone who can start early and finish late if required. I suit working for professionals in a sole charge capacity.

My most recent position was for a family in Crediton, helping with their now 2,4 and 7 year old. It involved school runs, taking the younger two out to local activities, cooking for the whole family from scratch each day and light housekeeping tasks. The children were all very different and I adapted to each child’s individual needs. The middle child needed a lot of reassurance about things and enjoyed lots of home based activities. I was confident having all 3 during the school holidays.

My previous Nanny post involved mainly sole charge care and full nursery duties. The role included 3 long days and a shorter fourth day. The girls were fun, active and creative and I spent time initially with the 14 month old helping her into a good sleep routine . I have carried out full nursery duties, settling the 3 year old into various nursery settings, taking them both to numerous toddler groups, taking them out for day trips, taking them swimming weekly myself and doing lots of talking to aid language development. I have carried out additional babysitting duties and the odd overnight care. I have assisted with parties and have organised a Halloween party for local friends. I have spent hours encouraging the youngest to be more confident socially which she was. I encouraged the children to be kind, adventurous and try new things.

When I returned to work after having my son I worked for two different families, Doctors in Ashburton 7.30-7, 2 days per week with their 3 children and 2 days working for solicitors and their 3 children, including twins. When I worked for the Doctors I was allowed to bring My son with me one day and knowing the huge responsibilities for doctors I was always on time 7.30am and was always happy to stay if the parents were delayed in hospital. Having my own child never affected my reliability, time keeping or flexibility as their nanny.

Before I had my son I was working for a family in Bradninch where I worked on a part-time basis/full time hours, 3 days per week 7.45-6.15 with additional babysitting/overnight care when Mum on call. I carried out all nursery duties, spending the day with the 4year old whilst the 6 year old at school. Took the younger child to a wide variety of activites, carried out educational activities including the learning of phonics and helping with learning to write. Prepared her well for starting school and assisted with teaching her to swim/ ride her bike. Planned days out in the holidays, coooked healthy meals and arranged weekly play dates with local friends. My job in London consisted of a mixture of Sole Charge and Shared Care of their 4 children, 3 girls (3, 8, 10 years) and 1 boy (6years). Duties include waking them in the morning, getting them ready for school, carrying out the school runs, nursery duties, preparing the children’s meals from scratch, collecting them after school and getting them to their various after school activities. Supervising the evening meal, assisting with any homework giving them their baths and getting them into bed. In addition I carried out weekly babysitting overnight sole charge care and have the children solely when the parents go away. I also travelled with the family in the school holidays and arrange play dates, age appropriate activities and days out. I worked full time hours and this was a Live in post.

My position in St John's International School in Sidmouth consisted of assisting with the classroom teachers, working with groups or on a one to one basis. I produced the majority of the school displays using my passion for art. In my role as the School Matron I was responsible for the welfare of the boarding children, who ranged in age from 4 years-14 years. I assist in the organising of the weekend activities and leas with parents and staff. I also worked in the Nursery with the pre-school aged children and ran with the PE teacher a lunchtime running club. Prior to this position I held the role of the Boy’s Matron. I was the first point of call for any First Aid required and administered any medicine. I had firsthand experience with a variety of behavioural issues including ADHD and cared for up to 80 boy boarders at a time.
