My Summary
About Me
My name is Eimear.I am a registered and insured childminder with the added benefit of a Degree in Gaelic, Geography and the Classics, a Level 5 in Understanding Special Needs. I have completed CYPOP5 and a number of other training courses including first aid and food hygiene. I have three children Conor , Hugo and Bonnie. I live with my Fiance Ash, who has his own property maintenance and fencing business. Working with children is my passion, I have a home from home setting that aims to make children and parents feel part of the family.
Our home is warm and welcoming to children and parents, it is also safe and secure, with space organized and used to promote children’s development.
I live in a spacious four bedroom three story near the centre of Corbridge, with a spacious garden with a wooden playhouses, digging area with kitchen, sandpit, water trough, large veg patch and lots of other outdoor play. There is a large playroom in the centre of my home where children can play and learn, it is filled with natural and everyday objects as well as lovely wooden toys that appeal to children's curious nature's, all rooms run off here, we have an art room with period school desk, chalk boards, and a lovely large window seat where the children especially the older ones enjoy reading and board games. There is a large living room with a desk area for older children to do their homework and relax afterschool away from younger children if they wish however they all tend to mix and play together. We eat our meals together in the kitchen, tea is served at 4.30, children also help with laying the table and preparing simple meals and snacks as well as baking. We do lots of messy play and outdoor adventures so waterproofs and wellies are essential. The down stairs bathroom has all equipment needed to promote independence when toileting and handwashing. Our spare bedroom is available for nap time where I can provide a cot or zbeds.
Our home is a two minute walk from the park and playgrounds and five minutes walk from the local schools. I provide before and after school care as well as a holiday club for children who attend the local preschool, first school and middle school.
I work alongside two very experienced assistants who also bring drama and sports qualifications to my setting. Between us we have over 20 years experience in providing quality care and education for children.
My Experience
I have a large amount of experience in delivering care to children of all ages as I was a supervisor and Montessori teacher in a busy crèche which catered for children from birth to 13 years.
I have also tutored children for their exams for many years and helped younger children who were struggling with specific subject areas.
I volunteered in a school as a TA, specialising in caring for those with learning difficulties.
I also have a three children of my own who have given me a wealth of experience in the trials and tribulations of being a child.

Our daughter has enjoyed going to Eimear's wonderful setting for the last 2 years. She started as a 2-year-old baby who had never spent a day away from Mummy. Eimear and the staff at Over The Rainbow have been central to J developing into an adventurous, curious, articulate and confident little girl who is now independent and Reception-Ready. We highly recommend Eimear and her caring child-centered setting as her home becomes your child's home too. J has learned to experiment with food with confidence and learned how to play with her friends. The curiosity approach methods presented to children are enriching and all in all J has had the perfect experience with Eimear at Over The Rainbow.
My son who has Aspergers has had the best after school experience here, such a kind a caring setting, individual child’s needs very much catered for. Fresh delicious healthy meals. Everything you could possibly ask for in a childminder ,and in a great location.
A warm nurturing environment which we couldn’t recommend highly enough. Our daughter has been looked after by Eimear for around ten months, having started attending when she was six months old. Eimear and her assistants made our daughter feel like a member of the family from her first day. She has visibly grown in confidence in the time since she started, and seems to come home with new skills every day!
Our daughter has been looked after by Eimear for nearly a year. This is a home from home setting which provides great support and learning opportunities.
We are looking forward to getting back to Eimear once everything settles down again.
Our daughter has been enjoying going to Eimear at Over the Rainbow for a couple of months now. The childcare setting provided is friendly with a limited number of childminders and children meaning our daughter is familiar with them and happy. There is a Montessori style to play which we like.
When our usual nursery closer to home closed due to the pandemic Eimear was very accommodating. We both work for the NHS and are so grateful that we have been able to continue working. This personal and kind service is so important to us and shows a focus not on childcare just as a business which we have experienced at other settings. There is a real focus on the wellbeing and happiness of the children.
