About Me
My name is Karen. I live in a spacious 5 bedroom house in Finchampstead where I live with my husband.
I have been a childminder since 2003 and have been looking after children since 1994. I have two custom built playrooms , a downstairs toilet for childminding use and LOTS and LOTS of resources. My last inspection was 2020 and I received an OUTSTANDING grade again.
I am very experienced and offer a home from home setting to help children learn and develop through play and their daily experiences. FUN and HAPPINESS are my priority.
Your child's day with me will be varied and active, we spend time indoors and outdoors using the car only to travel to places we can't walk to such as farms, local country parks and soft play areas.
We have a Frenchie dog so this setting is unsuitable for children who are nervous around animals.
I am have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as has my husband and my daughter who I co-mind with.
My Experience
I had my children in 1994,1996 & 1998. I worked at the pre-school that my children attended for a while before becoming chair of the committee. I then joined the committee of the local Cubs and scouts group and became a childminder in 2003. I also have two grandchildren aged 8 years and 10 years
My Qualifications
OUTSTANDING OFSTED GRADE inspected February 2020
I am qualified to level 3 in Childcare and Development. I also hold Food Hygiene, safeguarding, FCCERS course, paediatric first aid and numerous other certificates from regular courses I attend as part of my continuing professional development.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
My fees start at £6.50 per hour for a full time pre-school space. £7.00 Term Time only
£7.50 per hour for before or after school.
Funding Offered for children who are already on role before they are entitled to funding hours. Sundries charge levied for funded hours to cover consumables.

We have been sending our son to Karen's for a bit more than a year now and have been very happy with the care he has been receiving. They always get up to all sorts of exciting activities (outings in the woods, at the local garden centre, play groups...), do lots of cool and educational activities, and her house is also perfect to accommodate little ones. Karen keeps us updated and sends us photos of what the kids have been up to daily. She also gives the children dinner and that is so nice for us to pick up our son knowing that we don't need to worry about dinner!

As a parent, I must say that I had been looking for quite a long time before I find her.
She was the one who ticked all the boxes and we are very glad we made the right decision.
My son liked her since the very first moment we met her. Ever since, he is always very excited about everything he learns and he always speaks very favourably about them all. (Karen, Casey, Daddy, Piggy and of course his friends)
The setting is always clean, safe, and provides a nurturing environment for the children . They do different activities every time (playgroups, visit parks, garden centers, lot of interaction with animals etc). These are great activities for kids and I feel that my son apart from having great fun, he has learnt valuable skills.
Karen is very friendly and always keeps us updated about our child's progress.
She definitely provides a homey environment with lots of play and she has been a great childminder to our child for the last year and half he is going there. She would be our number one choice if we would have any other kids in the future.
I highly recommend her to any parent who is looking for an excellent start for their child's education and development.
Last but not least, the pricing she has is very very reasonable for the level/quality of services she provides!!

My little girl absolutely loves going to Karen’s, she’s been going for 8 months and literally runs through the door. Karen does so much with the kids, visits lots of fun places, Garden centres, parks lovely long walks to see the cows and horses. When at home Karen also is very crafty and they makes lots of things to bring home, they also cook cakes and biscuits. I always know my little girl has had the best day with all the updates karen gives us through the day too which I love seeing x

The variety of play and learning settings Karen provides are very stimulating for our DD. She goes to see other childminders, play groups, outings to local community setting such as the library, as well as special trips to the zoo and museums. The creativity Karen brings to everyday sessions with our DD is unbelievable. We are regularly amazed at the creations our DD comes home with, everything from fairy cakes to tomatoes grown by the children and decorations for the tree at Christmas. We cannot recommend Karen highly enough.
