About Me
My name is Sylvia and I am an Ofsted Registered Child-Minder , situated on the outskirts of Maidenhead / Holyport/ Windsor and within a short drive of the M4. Easy parking is available for drop-off and collection.
I have 2 children of my own, a daughter and a son, who both love being around other children.
I teach French to the children I look after because I believe that being bilingual acts as an important enabler of a child's future development. French sessions are centred around play, songs and movement to ensure it is fun and engaging.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stages (E.Y.F.S.) observations and offer a range of activities such as singing, dancing, story time, cooking, gardening, outdoor play, and trips to the park and local animal parks. I am a member of the National Trust and as such often organise visits to nearby attractions. I attend local toddler groups and the Maidenhead Library Story & Song Time groups with the children.
I feel it's important to promote healthy eating with children and the children in my care enjoy varied, fresh home-cooked meals, fruits and snacks. I share an allotment with 2 other childminders and the children enjoy visiting, tending the plants and then eating the harvest at mealtimes if our crops have been successful.
I endeavour to create a nurturing, fun and friendly atmosphere for children to thrive in.
My Experience
I have been a child-minder for the past 20 years and was graded "Outstanding" by Ofsted in June 2015.
Having Children of my own and my love for children meant that Child-Minding was the obvious career direction I wanted to take after moving on from my previous job.
I was Head-Waitress at the Waterside Inn in Bray prior to becoming a Child-minder and from experience I can say that I have a good knowledge of healthy food.
I love what I do. It is not just a job; I believe I give your children the best start in life while they are in my care.

My Qualifications
I have an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, First Aid, Food and Hygiene, and Safeguarding and I conduct regular refresher courses and additional new Training Modules for the Early Years Curriculum. I am a member of Morton Michel Child-Care Insurance and belong to the Child-Minder group in Maidenhead.
I speak French and teach it to the children I care for. I used to teach at "123 Soleil", the French School in Maidenhead.
My Availability
I can look after 0-13-Year-old children but I specialise in Early Years Children.
I offer both Full-Time and Part-Time Vacancies for Early Years Children, and I also cover school holidays and emergency childcare. I consider any other proposals carefully on request. Please contact me for details of current availability.
I will have a 3 days vacancy for a baby from August 2025.
My usual starting times are:
Monday to Friday: from 07:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Saturday to Sunday: Not Available.
