My Summary
About Me
I am an Ofsted registered OUTSTANDING Early Years Practitioner (childminder) i registered in 2015. When I had realised that I preferred to be a stay at home mum and so being an early years provider enabled me to do every day for others what I love the most. Moreover, it fit my family needs.
I have lived with my husband in Romford for 15, years and we have two wonderful children of our own a son, aged 13 and a daughter, aged 15 who both attend secondary school. Our home is a 1920’s semi-detached house, which is close to Raphaels park and playing fields, and a short distance from local shops, library, schools and preschools.
We have a purpose built garden room / cabin where our day to day activities take place, to keep the toys contained which has an abundance of learning resources and a choice of toys that are rotated regularly. The children have access to books, puzzles, cars, dolls, bricks, Fireman Sam, Postman Pat, super heroes and many more toys for all ages. There are posters of letters and numbers and a notice board where I display our next steps and other exciting news. There is also space for children to have quiet time, read books and relax if they become tired. I follow the current EYFS and ensure that there are lots of child lead learning opportunities available. I also like to use a lot of natural resources in my setting and allow the children to tinker and explore.
The cabin opens up to free flow play into a large garden with many outdoor toys. We have a large wooden tepee and climbing tunnel. There are ride in cars, a sandpit, water-table, buckets, spades, swing ball, hula hoops etc. We have a colourful range of sports equipment that I obtained by collecting the Sainsburys Active Kids vouchers. I encourage the children to play outside in the fresh air every day and they have access to a range of resources, such as dolls, prams, garage and cars, shops, tents and dressing up to use their imagination through roll play inside and out.
Before and after school children (I accommodate Gidea Park School)are encouraged to sit and work through homework where I give them my support and guidance. Likewise they can sit and read play board games or join in with the younger children should they chose to do so.
I plan a variety of exciting outings to the park, local library and shape walks. I also have an allotment where I organically grow vegetables that feature in most of my meals. The allotment gives the children the opportunity to see how things grow, how to care for things and how to prepare them for eating. It has definitely increased their love of good, fresh food.
The children also learn technology as they operate a range of electronic toys, such as a phonic keypad and educational games on the iPad. The children learn about the environment as we visit local parks, woods and explore those that help us in the community.
I have completed my CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to work in Home Based Childcare. I hold a paediatric first aid training an enhanced DBS check, I hold motor vehicle insurance for commercial use and have a full, clean British driving licence. I am continuously checking for personal development and hold Safeguarding, Channel General Awareness and Prevent certificates along with Basic Food Hygiene. I have also undertaken training for the Department of education early years development program. I am fully insured and continuously ensure I am up to date with government policies.
