My Summary
About Me
~ NOT CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR WORK! ~
Dear Family,
My name is Helen, I am a 31 year old English Nanny looking for a new role near my hometown Peterborough/Stamford. I consider myself to be energetic, organised and fun as well as down-to-earth, patient and calm. Being a Nanny is an absolute passion of mine.
Growing up as one of the eldest in a large, sociable and active family and regularly being relied on to care for my 3 younger siblings has been the foundation to my passion for childcare. I have a natural caring disposition and thrive off the fast-paced family life. I believe I have the ability to relate to children and work effectively as a family team. I have experiences of working with children in many different situations and am confident caring for babies, toddlers and older children. Working as a Nanny in a more personal, intimate family setting has been amazing and I would love to continue this way! I’m an enthusiastic and loving person and passionate about ensuring children are given a happy, enriching upbringing to enable them to be successful and happy as they grow older.
I genuinely enjoy being in the company of children, and apply myself in a fun way, on their level, to ensure they enjoy being in my company too! Going the extra step to nurture and encourage their personal interests, whether that is arts and crafts, reading, singing and dancing, being outdoors, baking, learning about certain topics, or just a bit of everything! As well as being fun and enthusiastic, I understand that it is important children learn right from wrong – I can calmly and efficiently deal with unexpected moods and behaviours with a fair, but firm and honest approach; to discourage the bad and reward the good!
Finally, you can trust me to create a loving, stable and fun environment for your children – I love working as a Nanny and could not think of any other line of work. I am organised, reliable, patient, caring and flexible and consider myself to be a dynamic but humble person who will be dedicated to ensuring you children feel happy, stimulated, safe and supported.

My Experience
PAID EMPLOYMENT
• Live Out Nanny (September 2018 – Current) Burton Family
Mix of part and full time, shared/sole care for four boys. (Triplets 8months and older brother 21months). An extremely interesting, demanding and unique role where myself and their mother worked as a team to care for and entertain these four busy little ones. My main responsibility was playing with and supervising the boys while mum rested or ran errands. Keeping to a strict routine - helping to manage feeding (bottle), and the dinner, bath, bed routine (including weaning, washing, changing and dressing and putting to bed – a challenging task with all four!). As my hours increased, I created and implemented fun learning plans/activities for the eldest (1:1), teaching numbers, alphabet/phonics, his name, shapes, pencil control and various other important skills. I also researched and lead sensory play activities for all four, keeping them stimulated, and helping to develop fine/gross motor skills. We regularly took the boys for day-trips together, whether to walk in the park, soft plays, the beach or just to run day to day tasks. This position has taught me a lot and has been thoroughly enjoyable - I have been able to really develop my own skills when it comes to caring for babies and toddlers. I will be leaving this position due to a reduction in hours.
• Live Out Nanny (July 2018 – August 2019) McGregor Family
Part time shared/sole care for three children (G3, B18months, B(born at 30weeks)). A busy role supporting mum after the unexpected premature birth of her third child. I initially cared for the two older children whilst mum and baby were in hospital, gradually moving to all round care for all three children. My duties included; sterilising bottles, making up feeds, bathing, changing, weening, cooking meals, ironing, and helping to keep on top of household tasks. Baby suffered tremendously with reflux for the first four months and was extremely unsettled, which required a lot of special attention and patience. We fed him using the paced bottle technique. I was heavily involved with establishing a good napping schedule alongside keeping the eldest two entertained and happy. I took daily nature walks and regular day trips with all three and at times required to proxy-parent overnight. After a difficult year for this family, they decided they were confident enough to move forward with no extra help and amicably ended the contract.

During this position I was heavily involved in the care and support of the child and family members following the diagnoses of a difficult ongoing health problem. Alongside my responsibilities as a Nanny; I also had full care of the family dog, including walking, feeding, grooming and veterinary appointments. I was in charge of managing the housekeeper, food shopping, car maintenance, running errands, filing for both children and parents and managing/overlooking house maintenance work. I left this position to move away from London.

o Hampton College (October 2011-November 2012)
3 Positions at the same school with children aged 11-16.
Level 1 Teaching Assistant (October 2011-February 2012):
Providing educational support within the mainstream classroom to facilitate the children’s learning. My role was largely concerned with helping children with special educational needs, through providing differentiated tools and guidance to ensure understanding and enable children to achieve tasks, all whilst supporting the class teacher and curriculum. A role I regard as extremely important here was being ‘Key Worker’ to a few specific children. The responsibilities included caring for my students’ emotional, social and physical wellbeing during school as well as assisting in creating appropriate, individual support plans.
Level 2 - 1:1 Teaching Assistant (February 2012- August 2012):
1:1 support for a student (boy: 12) with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex behavioural difficulties, who was unable to participate in mainstream education. I delivered the core subjects alongside emotional support to the student, through liaising with the SENCo, subject teachers and using my own initiative. I established valuable relationships with the student’s parents, ensuring consistency between home and school. My role enabled me to develop an ever-growing understanding and expertise in ASD and associated behavioural difficulties (which I was able to share with my team), the ability to discipline appropriately; as well as extreme patience.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant (September 2012 – November 2012):
More intense work within the special needs department. My role consisted of planning and delivering specific weekly interventions to small groups of students (Dyslexia group, Social Group, Nurture Group). Using resources and guidance I was able to ensure students with particular needs were getting the support they needed. Alongside this I supported the interventions manager TA in the department with general supervision, behaviour management, emotional support and organisation. I was also the sole supervisor of 2 weekly group visits for alternative lessons; one with 10 students to a nature based art programme, and the other, GCSE students to Bricklaying and Construction at the city college. My responsibilities as ‘Key Worker’ have been carried through all my positions at Hampton College, additionally to my main role, I was a consistent 1:1 TA for a student with ASD/ADHD difficulties in class – a challenging but fascinating role where I was able to further my skills learnt in my previous position. Some particularly useful skills I learnt during this role was the ability to deliver WRAT-4 and DASH tests as well as marking a whole year groups Suffolk Reading Scale exams.
Lastly, I am able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with staff, parents and, most importantly, students.
I left Hampton College to volunteer in Cambodia and travel South East Asia.
VOLUNTEER WORK_______________________________________________
o Let Us Create - Cambodia (March 2013 – May 2013)
As part of my travels I lived and volunteered in Cambodia for a local NGO whose aim is to provide a safe space for 120 very poor and at risk children between the ages of 6 months and 19 years. My responsibilities were to provide 2 English classes a day, assist with cooking and serving lunch and be hands on help for a very demanding nursery, which has lead me to become very baby confident. An extremely tough and eye opening experience which has definitely enriched my view of childcare and helped me gain extreme stamina.
o A Nice Time On Saturdays (December 2009 – May 2011)
Volunteer work whilst studying my degree. It involved spending time with children of various ages, who had recently suffered close family bereavement, organising fun activities and day trips a few Saturdays every month. Although tough, this sensitive work was incredibly rewarding and enabled me to gain outstanding responsibility and teamwork skills, alongside an expansion of my communication ability with children (some particularly anxious and/or disabled) and other volunteers. Preparation for this included brief bereavement counselling training and a CRB check.
o British Red Cross (June 2009 – March 2010)
Volunteering in my local British Red Cross charity shop has facilitated me in gaining brilliant retail experience, together with fuelling my awareness of and contribution to charity. Work involved managing customers needs, working the till, answering the phone and creating window displays, using my own creativity and initiative to attract the passing public. As well as this, sorting and organising donations involving pricing, tagging and steaming clothes. The use of the tagging gun and steamer has enhanced my attentiveness to health and safety issues whilst working.
o Saldance Theatre Arts (June 2005)
Two weeks work experience at a performing arts school, teaching classes of all ages, including those older than myself in a range of performing arts.
OTHER PAID EMPLOYMENT
o JJ’s Lounge {Cambodia} (December 2013 – April 2014)
Manager of a small bar and hostel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. JJ’s Apparel {Cambodia} (February 2014 – April 2014)
Alongside my main job at JJ’s Lounge, I was working part-time in a clothes and accessories store. Caring for customers needs, designing window and mannequin displays, ordering and organising stock from Bangkok. There is very little/no computer aid in Cambodia so with both jobs everything was done entirely manually.
o The Vine (August 2011- October 2011)
Work within a small bar-staff team in a village pub. I was trusted with serving and communicating with customers, handling money and cellar/pump control. Whilst employed at The Vine I was left to manage the pub unsupervised for extended periods of time giving me an insight into business and team organisation.
o RE Hospitality (July 2011)
Principally, bar-work serving important persons at the weekend of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone. I gained valuable skills in courtesy and the ability to work under pressure.

Temporary work as a silver service waitress and Chef’s assistant. Being in and around the kitchen enabled me to develop an awareness of the potential risks and hazards that come within any workplace.

Predominately administration, faxing, letter writing and I.T. roles alongside fast paced work in and around the shop, including heavy lifting and pricing plus assisting and communicating with customers.

9-5 catering work involving selling Carte Dor ice cream at the highly prestigious horse trials. Gaining knowledge of the importance of food safety and hygiene.
