Hi, my name is Jessica Gordon, I am 28 years old, I have a real passion for working with children, I have been babysitting since I was a teenager and I have had various placements in nurseries and some nanny experience.I have my level three qualification,I have had varies roles as a nanny(part time and full time), a full time role in a nursery as a level three practitioner and a room leader. I am a caring, kind reliable, hard working, active and I enjoy working with children, watching them develop and achieve things for the first time is magical. During this time, I have worked for a few families babysitting, which has involved making dinner, interacting with the children, getting the children ready for bed, putting the children to sleep, making them milk and providing medicine when needed, checking on the children throughout the evening. I have also had the experience to pick a child for a family from nursery, take them home,cook dinner and make milk for the child get the child ready for bed, give the child medicine when needed, check on the child throughout the night.

When I started to work here, my role was a level three practitioner which involved working a team, communicating with team members, changing nappies, supporting toilet training, good communication with the parents, providing feedback to parents about their children's day, keeping up to date with my key children's folder. This also involved following the routine for the children, being aware of children's dietary requirements, planning new and exciting new activities in order for the children to develop as according to the EYFS.I was then promoted to a room leader position which involves everything above as well as being part of the management team in the nursery, this means that I need to make sure the day runs smoothly, everything that needs to be done is completed, find solutions to any complaints that parents may have, being in charge of staff meetings to discuss changes that need to be made if needed. To continue to monitor my team's folders to ensure they are up to date and provide my team with time to complete their folders during the week.

Roles and Responsibilities
When I first started at this nursery,I was a nursery nurse, where my role was to change nappies, interact with the children,supervise the children, set out interesting activities for the children to further their development and also keep up to date with the folders of my key children by keeping with observations. My role is also to complete risk assessments, to ensure the environment is safe for the children inside and outside. Also to organize outings for the children to visit the parks, the museums etc. I also sit down with the children at lunch time etc to encoarge good table manners by setting an good example and setting good eating habits for the children. I provide support with children toilet training and keeping up with parents when regarding information to be shared with parents on how their child is doing on a day to day basis for example what have they enjoyed to play with and how they interacted with the other children. I provide feedback to parents answering any questions they may have and takings any messages they may have which is needed to know for the child's day.
In August, 2015, I was promoted to room leader which involves all of the jobs stated above and taking part in managing the room, to motivate the other staff members of the team to complete their job role everyday e.g. nappies,folders etc. Also to make sure that the routine is followed by each member of staff and they do the correct tasks that they are assigned to for example setting up lunch. Not to forgot also providing support to staff members with any problems they maybe experiencing within the work place or with other members of staff or the workload etc. Ensuring that new children starting are assigned a key person and are introduced to every member of staff. Also when a new staff member joins the nursery room, discuss all the items of the nursery, the new staff member will need to know.

During my training at the Chiltern College, I have gained a variety of experiences with children at both the college on site day nurseries and a range of other placements which the college were chosen by the college. I gained the work experience for 8 months which involved working with children from 0 to 3 years old in a nursery setting, experience in a primary school for a term which was working with children between 5 and 6 years old and a term experience was spent in a nursery school which was working with children between 3 to 5 years old.
