About Me

Hi, I'm Sharon and I am an experienced Ofsted registered Childminder offering a happy and safe environment for childcare in Abbots Langley. I have been happily married for nearly 20 years and we have two children aged 14 and 17 years - both in full time education at a nearby secondary school/college.
We have a very child friendly and loving home with a wide range of toys and activities in a large play room. Our days are structured on an informal basis to ensure the children are having fun and enjoying their activities but also learning (without them knowing it!)
We have plenty of room for quiet time or naps when needed. Further to this, we have a lovely garden with lots of outside equipment including a playhouse and climbing frame. I ensure all equipment, toys and activities are age appropriate so they can be enjoyed by the children but remain safe.
We also make regular visits to our local parks, toddler groups, Baby Rhyme (usually held at the local library or similar activities at the nearby Children's centre), Soft play and local activities nearby.
We live only five minutes walk from Tanners Wood JMI School and so drop offs/collections are easily accommodated, as would any attendances at Breakspeare Pre-school. We are also only a short walk from the village centre schools or nurseries and so please do enquire about other schools also.
All in all, I will do my best to ensure your child is safe and happy. My aim is to give the children a home from home experience with limited ratios (usually a maximum of 3:1 ratio for early years mindees). I appreciate how precious our little ones are and so getting the right childminder is an important decision.
Further to this, I also send daily texts/messages and/or photos to the parent to update them about their child's day when they are with me.
My Experience
I have many years experience caring for children as a childminder which often includes looking after babies when the parent returns to work after maternity leave, toddlers and older children needing breakfast club or afterschool care. I also offer holiday care.
I have experience working as a Teaching Assistant at my local primary and junior school in the nursery/foundation stage - following the Early Years Foundation Stage and being the keyworker for several children.
I have always been graded GOOD at my Ofsted inspections and I will continue to provide the high level of care expected by Ofsted and parents.
This includes sending a daily message/photo to update parents of our day. I will also complete a detailed termly report for children in the Early Years age group (up to 5 years) and undertake the 2 year check (as well as your Health Visitor).
I also understand the importance of teaching children British Values and helping children become ready for school (learning their alphabet, self care, concentration, phonics, number songs etc.) so they are ready for the classroom.

My Availability
I choose to care for a small number of children so I can build a strong trusting relationship with each child. I believe the smaller the ratio of children to the carer, the better for each child! In turn I hope this will give confidence to you the parent, in the level of care I provide.
I am happy to mind your children during the majority of the school holidays including half terms, Easter and the Summer holidays by arrangement. I am also more than happy to look after the children outside of normal working hours – you tell me when you need me and I will try to be as flexible as possible.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
- Babysitting from £9.00 per hour
Please contact me so we can discuss fees. I can provide snacks, meals, drinks and baby milk by agreement.
I accept Childcare vouchers - I currently accept RG, Busybees, Edenred/Accor and LBC vouchers. I am more than happy to register with other childcare voucher providers if needed.
From September 2017 I also accept Tax Free childcare payments.
I also provide up to 30 government funded hours for 3 and 4 year olds for eligible families.
Furthermore, I offer the government funded sessions for eligible 2 year olds and from September 2024 for 9 month + babies. I do not charge a ‘top up’ fee for funded hours.

My daughter has been looked after by Sharon since 2021 and she absolutely loves going there.
Sharon always has plenty of activities to keep my daughter entertained. Weather dependent Sharon tries to get the children outside every day. My daughter loves going out and about with Sharon and the other children. Some recent favourites are trips to the library for rhyme time, treasure hunt for wildlife and trips to the park. Sharon makes learning fun for the little ones.
Sharon is friendly and kind. She’s very accommodating and has been flexible when we’ve need to alter timings etc.
Sharon sends daily updates including photos of what the children have been up to during the day. I always look forward to these updates and it helps my daughter tell us about her day when she can look back on the moments.
I would highly recommend Sharon as an excellent childminder.

Sharon is a brilliant Childminder, Both of my children have been with Sharon, my son since he was 7 months old, he is now 3 and my daughter from 8 months old. The only reason we are leaving is due to relocation from the area. Sharon has always provided daily updates with texts and pictures on how the children are doing during the day, and is thorough on collection times with detail of what they have been up to during the day. At the start we were able to do regular settle sessions and throughout the time we have been with Sharon she has always been flexible with dates and personal changes with timing. Sharon creates a fun, playful, friendly home from home environment and the children always come out smiling. Would highly recommend Sharon.

Sharon is amazing, she has been my childminder for the last 5 years, she has had Connor every morning allowing me to be able to work in London, she has been really flexible in taking him earlier when I needed to be at work early. She has excellent communication, keeping me updated if Connor was poorly through to changing environment following COVID. Her priority is always the children.
Now that my son is moving to secondary school, we will miss Sharon so much

Sharon has been my childminder for the past six years looking after my little boy since he was 8 months old. The only reason he is leaving is because I am going on maternity leave. Sharon is more than just a childminder I feel Rhys was apart of her family or certainly treated that way and he will miss seeing her most days. From the start Sharon made me feel at ease about sending Rhys to her whilst at work and the care she has provided has been exceptional even at short notice Sharon has helped me out. We have always had excellent communication with regards to the care given. I would not have known what to do without her help and care for all this time. We are really going to miss her.

Sharon has looked after my little boy Aiden since he was 10 months old, he’s now 3 1/2 and has just left Sharon to attend nursery to get him ready for Primary school. I’m so so impressed with Sharon’s level of care for Aiden over the last few years, she has been exceptional. He’s enjoyed lots of activities with her, trips to the park and soft play, lots of arts and crafts and outdoor play and has really enjoyed all of his time with her. Sharon regularly communicates throughout the day with messages and pictures of how Aidens day was going which was really nice to receive. She spent a lot of time and was very thorough with Aidens learning Journal, documenting all his learning stages and all the fun he had whilst spending days with her. She has also really helped me out around my working hours and has accommodated Aiden attending earlier which was a great help. I honestly cannot recommend her enough, shes a really lovely person and the absolute best at what she does and we will really miss her! I will definitely be recommending her to all of my friends with little ones.
