My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Liz and I run Busy Lizzie's Childminding.
I have been a registered childminder for over 12 years and I was graded 'Good' overall with 'Outstanding' areas at my last Ofsted inspection (March 2022). I live in Oakworth with my husband of 23 years, our 3 children (ages 21, 19 and 15), our 2 cats and 4 hens.
Until a 15 years ago I worked as a Laboratory Manager in the Environmental Analysis industry. I took voluntary redundancy when my third child was born as I knew I wanted a career change. I loved spending more time with my children and realised what a rewarding job caring for children would be. I now love my job, every day is so rewarding, unpredictable and challenging (I wish I had changed careers years ago!).
I work within the Early Year Foundation Stage framework and plan the activities we do around the individual needs and interests of the children in my care. I work in partnership with parents/ carers to ensure that every child in my care achieves their potential. My aim is for children to have fun with me and for you to have peace of mind that they are safe and happy.
The children and I make regular visits to local toddler groups, soft play centres and to nearby parks and at home we do fun activities such as baking, painting, gardening, singing, dancing, puzzles ....... and much, much more. We have a very large, safe & secure garden with lots of play equipment and we are in the countryside with direct access to lovely walks, so there is plenty of opportunity for outdoor play.
I am Quality Assured as part of the Bradford Childminding Network so I can offer Early Education Funding (EEF) which provides 15 or 30 hours of free childcare for all children aged 3 years and over who are not in full time education and for some 2 year olds. I also accept all Childcare Vouchers.
My Experience
I am a mum to 3 lovely children and an aunt to 3 girls and 2 boys.
I have been working as an Ofsted registered childminder for over 15 years.

From the moment that I met Liz and her family I knew that she was the childminder I wanted for my son. She is calming, nurturing and has a love for outdoors. My son attended from 11months and is now 5 and only attends for the odd school holiday. My daughter started at 11 months too and is currently still there, she is 3. Lizzie's approach to Childminding is wonderful and she really is part of our extended family. Her learning activities are engaging and well thought out. She plans from the children's interests and nurtures the children like they are her own. They go on the most wonderful adventures in the local areas and my children are always full of memorable stories. For record keeping and observations are professional and informative. She is great at involving parents in their children's learning and encourages half termly reviews to identify next steps in learning as well as collecting key information that could impact upon your child for the half term ahead. Lizzie has a stunning setting, both indoors and outdoors. Her meals are fabulous and home cooked- often with fruit and veg from her own garden which all the children help to harvest.
Both of my children adore Lizzie, her children and their friends that they have met through attending busy Lizzie's. We are so pleased that we managed to secure a place over four years ago. When families discover busy Lizzie's they don't leave as they know that Liz is an absolute gem who goes out of her way to accommodate and help families. I will be terribly sad when the day comes to leave when both children are at school, until then we will continue to cherish the joy our children have in attending Busy Lizzie's.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Your children have been a pleasure to care for and will be much missed as they move on to the next exciting chapters in their lives ❤
We first took our daughter to Lizzie when she was 11 months old; she is now 4.5yrs and still absolutely loves going to spend time with Lizzie and also seeing all her friends there. Our second daughter is going to Lizzie's in September and am 100% confident that she will also love Lizzie and the time she spends with her. The care our daughter has received has been excellent, always with the child's needs put first. They always do a range of activities and spend lots of time outside - perfect for our daughter. Lizzie knows so many beautiful places to visit and the photos we receive each day show just how much fun the children are all having. Even if they have a day at home, there is always so much happening; from baking, painting, singing and role-play, to the outdoor activities available too - chalking, ride-on toys, swings and slide, or just playing on the huge lawn - there is so much to do. The assessments Lizzie completes are detailed and clear to understand, showing all the areas of learning and whether they are meeting their age related objectives. The learning journey which we receive at the end of each term is wonderful to look through and see just how much progress has been made through child-led play, tailored to each child's needs.
As our daughter has started nursery, Lizzie has continued to care for her after nursery. It was always exciting when it was Lizzie's day and she got to see her friends. Our daughter loves Lizzie and the time they spend together. At the moment, due to Covid-19, our daughter isn't seeing Lizzie, but she cannot wait to go back in September, with her little sister too, and create many more special memories together.
Liz provides a nurturing, calm, caring environment where both our children have thrived. From our first meeting with Liz at her idyllic home, complete with a huge garden, chickens and veggie patch, I knew we'd found the right person to care for our first child.
We believed Liz's manner, parenting, educational and life experiences reflected our own and so provided the best environment for our children, where our parenting style would be supported and embedded.
And the proof is in our two little puddings. Every day they meet Liz at breakfast time with a grin and get started playing, they rarely noticed our departure. At tea time we'd have to tear them away. In short they loved Liz.
In addition, I was always impressed with the range of activities Liz offered, especially outdoor time. Liz also provided the children with a range of balanced, home cooked meals.
In short, Liz made what I though impossible possible. I could go to work and not worry about my children, safe in the knowledge they were with someone who they loved and who would provide a similar style of care as I would. And I believe that is invaluable.
The reason Liz doesn't have lots of reviews is simply because once people start they tend to stay. Our daughter has been with Liz for nearly 3 years and it is with a very heavy heart we've said goodbye due to a change in our circumstances. But we will of course stay in touch - she's part of our family now:)

Thank you for the lovely review. It's been a pleasure to know you all & we're going to miss your 'puddings' so much x
Playing a key role in helping nurture a happy, caring, well-rounded little girl is the best tribute we can pay to Liz.
For the best part of four years, our daughter has looked forward to going to Liz's house virtually every day to play and learn. Liz and her family provide a warm, safe, secure and happy atmosphere - to such an extent that even the children she looks after genuinely feel part of her family.
Every day Liz offers a different experience (I don't know how you find the creativity and energy!) and the food on offer leads to envious expressions among the adults back at home.
Liz meticulously records experiences, achievements and milestones in a daily diary which is of great interest, and indeed comfort, when those worries invariably surface about my child and what she is up during the course of the working day.
In short, we cannot thank Liz enough for the love, care and attention our daughter has enjoyed while in her care. She is now starting school and does so on a strong academic footing after the time, effort and expertise Liz has invested into her.
Meanwhile, the experience of being part of a loving home, among caring adults and happy children, has created a well-adjusted little girl ready for the next chapter in her journey.
We can't say thank you, or indeed recommend Liz's services, enough.
Our daughter Keira has been going to Liz's for the past few months when I returned to work after maternity leave. Keira has settled in so well and seems to really love her days spent there. When we drive up to Liz's house each morning she gets visibly excited always has a huge smile on her face. Knowing she is this happy has made returning to work so much smoother as we know she is settled. Liz has her own children who are a great accolade to Liz and her husband and who interact so well with Keira making her feel so welcome. She comes home having learnt so much and is constantly surprising us with new tricks Liz and the children have helped her with. I would strongly recommended busy lizzies as a professional and friendly place for your child, it's been fantastic for us! Thank you Liz
