My Summary
Sandra Jarvis, Nanny
About Me
I am an OFSTED registered Nanny living in the Yateley area.
I AM DELIGHTED TO HAVE BEEN AWARDED 'GOOD' IN MY LAST OFSTED INSPECTION IN APRIL 2018.
During Covid-19 lock-down I had to close my doors to my wonderful Childminding families. I was offered an urgent care role with a lovely keyworker family Nannying for their young daughter as they needed emergency childcare and have been happily Nannying ever since.
My focus is very much child-led, the child/children are my focus throughout the day. I tailor activities and outings to suit each child’s ages, developmental level and interests whilst keeping the child/children safe at all times.
I am DBS checked (and on the update service), fully insured, OFSTED registered, have a CACHE Childcare Diploma, have completed my child protection training (advanced level) and I last completed my Paediatric First Aid Training update course in November 2022. I continue to undertake professional development training courses throughout the year to ensure that I keep myself up to date.
I regularly attend local toddler groups, soft play areas, library, parks, garden centres and a variety of outdoor spaces such as Wisley Gardens, the Lookout, Saville Gardens and Virginia Waters amongst other places such as local parks and green spaces. I like to provide every day experiences in a warm and caring manner from the comfort of your home. Working closely with parents to ensure the best possible care for your child. I enjoy visiting a variety of different places to enhance and broaden the children’s learning experiences. I also enjoy messy play including crafts, painting, play dough, and cooking with the children. My main priority is that each child is well cared for, enjoys their time whilst I’m caring for them and learns and progresses. I am also a non-smoker. I’m happy to undertake various child-related ad-hoc tasks also such as tidying up, children’s laundry, cooking etc.
I also have experience too of hotel babysitting, 1:1 wedding nannying (for the Bride & Groom), wedding crèches and have recently helped provide childcare at a festival.

My Experience
I started my childcare career as a Childminder after having my daughter when she was 2.5 years old. I thoroughly enjoyed the 15 + years I did this for. Previous to this and also a few years ago during the Covid pandemic I had some temporary work giving me my first opportunity as a Nanny. At the same time I also worked part-time at a local nursery. My Husband and I have two grown up children (young adults). Our Daughter now lives independently with her partner locally and our son is away at university. I also have a step-Son and have in total over 29 years of experience caring for children.
I also have experience of caring for children with a variety of additional needs and those who might need a little extra support.
Please feel free to browse through my reviews or contact any of my parents should you wish.

Sandra helped with a children’s crèche along with activities at an event I was holding. I found her to be a positive, adaptable, reliable and friendly person. She was great not only with the children, but the adults as well. I would highly recommend her.

I hired Sandra to look after my two young children on my wedding day. She was an excellent Nanny from start to finish and I couldn't have wished for anyone better. Sandra made a huge effort to get to know my children and their routines during a quick meet up prior to the wedding and straight away we knew she would be perfect. Smiley, fun, understanding and also incredibly realistic. Her experience and wealth of knowledge meant that we did not need to worry about our children throughout our wedding. I have recommended her to other friends and family in need of an event nanny and they have been equally impressed with her. If I ever needed a day to day nanny then I know exactly who I would be contacting first!

Just wanted to say thanks again for your help at our wedding. Sandra was amazing with our 13 month old daughter and so helpful before and especially throughout the day. She was great with the little ones and you could tell she really loves what she does. It made everything much less stressful. The day went really well and was exactly what we wanted with thanks to Sandra.

Sandra was amazing both in her care for our 2 young children and helping us with anything she could. We traveled in from the states and wanted to know our kids were in good hands and she went above and beyond and even dropped in last minute when our plans changed and arranged another nanny on a day she wasn't available. Wish she was available in the states because we'd love having her with us more! Thank you

Thank you Sandra for your help with emergency child care and keeping the little one happy and safe. Getting someone new to look after the child is always stressful but you made it easier for us.

Sandra is a friendly, professional, reliable and enthusiastic childminder. She provided excellent childcare for my two children and they enjoyed a very positive relationship with Sandra and her family. She gave detailed, useful feedback to me each time my children were in her care. Sandra is a very warm and caring person and my children felt very secure and happy when they were at Sandra’s house. They enjoyed participating in a variety of activities and they were especially pleased and proud of the artwork that they created with Sandra.

In short, we couldn't recommend Sandra enough. She is the right fit for our family. Certainly every family and every child are different so if you are looking for a childcare of some sort, at least have a chat with Sandra and see if she can be of any help.
Read on for more,
Sandra was caring for children under a childminder capacity up until the lockdown. Our 2.5 year old daughter was attending her nursery until it closed down for key workers families. We did not receive further support from our nursery - ie the nursery wouldn't allow their staff to nanny our daughter leading us having to look for a desperate alternative at a short notice. As a very private family, we have never had any help with childcare, not even a babysitter, up until we have Sandra. Medical mothers tend to either be totally relaxed and carefree or absolute anxious wreck and unfortunately I am the latter. We are so pleased that we have found one another during this unusual time.
Sandra shares my parenting philosophy in which I encourage my daughter to at least have a go at everything. I end up joining in with her activities or drench her in copious amount of encouragement and if all fail, I make her repeat things that she already accomplished - ie do it yourself and take pride in it. Sandra does it even better and our daughter loves her new accomplishments, new skills and problem solves herself. For us, learning must be fun, constructive, appropriate and stress / expectation free - Sandra naturally ticks all our boxes. Sandra does everything that we request of her, the hardest is probably our request on not to comparison of our daughter to other children in front of her given good or great.
We have Sandra in our lives for 5 weeks now and she has been such a gift. Our daughter spends her day finding 's' for Sandra on prints and of course she looks for other letters as well. With decades of experiences of raising children including 2 of her own, Sandra puts her effort in supplementing us in areas we find more challenging as new parents. Our daughter now asks for cold salad. Our pickle loves cooked veg and fresh fruits but no salad previously. Due to our daughter skin condition, we wanted to potty train our daughter as soon as possible. We think she was ready but her nursery wasn't convinced. By the time Sandra came to us, we were in underwear and managed a week with too many accidents - we were utterly confused. Sandra was reassuring and lead us to success in hardly anytime. Other achievement is that somehow, our daughter decides to nap with Sandra but certainly not with us. One would argue that at 2.5 year old, some toddlers already drop their naps. Ours would nap for 1.5 hr at her nursery and does the same with Sandra. On the days that she naps, the afternoons are quiet and peaceful in contrary to nap-less afternoons. The nights are all the same, 11-12 hours solid sleep. We conclude that she does still need her afternoon naps but declines so with us.
Sandra worked in offices before she has her own children and became a childminder. She is still armed with management skills and has been a great help in term of getting us on track with paperwork and forward planning. Any helps is welcomed in our family for sure especially keeping us organised and on track. She is a good communicator who verbalises her opinions and her concerns. We always value Sandra's honest opinions always welcome her constructive inputs as she shares our strives to be the best parents we can be. We always have a laugh on the days I work from home too which is a bonus.
I am learning a lot from Sandra absorbing years of her experiences in the hope to support our daughter to the best of our parenting abilities. At present, we are looking at the logistic of having our daughter be looked after by Sandra post Covid otherwise, Sandra has already agreed to visit nurseries with us. In distance future, we will be happy to call on Sandra to play with our daughter anytime should we need time off or on our daughter's special occasions.

Sandra is a fantastic childminder. She always puts the children's needs first.
Sandra does a lot with the children in her care, from going to playgroups, outings to nearby parks including Wisley and celebrating special holidays at home, like Chinese New Year.
My daughter has been with Sandra for the past 2 years and loves it.
Sandra works very closely with you on any development or changes your child needs.

Thanks so much Carmen. It’s so lovely to see how your daughter has progressed since I’ve had her in my care over the last 2 years. We will miss her greatly when she moves on to pre-school but has been an absolute pleasure having her with us all this time. Thanks also to you for working so closely with me too - it definitely has paid off. So lovely to see how independent and confident she has become : )
My son has been going to Sandra's for several years. She provides a nurturing, caring home from home environment. As a working Mum, I need reassurance that my son is safe, taken care of whilst having fun and enjoying himself. He always comes away saying he has had such a good time. Thanks Sandra for the excellent support and care you provide.

Looking forward to having him here again soon : )
My son has been going to Bright Stars for a few months now and he absolutely loves being there.
Sandra is very informative and helpful when it comes to my son. I like the fact that he gets taken out for the day on trips and gets to experience new things. Highly recommended, thank you.

Thank you so much Sarah. I'm really pleased your son is enjoying his time with us and has settled in so well. He's already made new friends and seems to be well liked by all the other children. Can't wait to help be a part of his journey as he grows and develops. Thanks again for choosing Bright Stars to care for him : )
