My Summary
About Me
I am a mother of one daughter who is happily married and they have given me three beautiful grandchildren.
I have lived in Seaton Carew for nearly 30 years now and I have re registered as a child minder after 13 years working within the Early Years Sector for North Yorkshire County Council. The travelling has finally got to me "600 miles" per week!!!
I have just had my Ofsted inspection in December 2018 and received "OUTSTANDING in ALL AREAS"
I am a highly experienced, knowledgeable childcare development professional with excellent communication skills and considerable experience in successfully working with children, young people, families and other professionals over the last 30 years.
Practical knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection, experienced in dealing with sensitive issues, whilst complying with issues of confidentiality and data protection.
Good sound understanding and working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage which sets the standard that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept safe and healthy. As every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their full potential.
I will consider individual needs, interests and the stage of development and plan enjoyable experiences in a challenging safe way and make any reasonable adjustments to my provision to support each child. By implementing purposeful play mixing adult and child led activities, this builds confidence supports them to explore, think about problems and relate to others. This then will enable me to track the child's progress, achievements, interests and learning styles, sharing with parents and other carer's in readiness for school.
Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Registration Requirements and inspection process.
I have a friendly open 'can do' attitude and approachable personality, good listener, effective communicator, good attitude and understanding, commitment and positive thinking.
I am flexible and adaptable in my approach with each individual child, offering words of encouragement, empathy in a non judgemental way with a confident manner and always open to suggestions and change, sharing information with parents and continuously keeping my personal development training up to date.
My Experience
I started my childcare career child minding back in 1993 until 2005.
From 2005 I worked for North Yorkshire County Council Children and Young People's Service as a Childminding Support Officer to 2012.
My responsibilities where to work with existing and newly registered child minders.
I provided support, guidance and delivered training to develop good working practices and pre registrations sessions through the area.
The training covered :
Early Years Foundation Stage, Tracking Process of Children's Age and Stage of Development, Planning Long and Short Term, Observations and Assessments, Supporting Children's Learning, Dealing with Challenging Behaviour, Improving Outdoor Provision, Writing of Policies and Procedures, Risk Assessments, SENCO and Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Equality and Diversity, Business Planning, HMRC Tax Self Assessments and How SEN cod of practice is put in place within your setting to name a but few.
I developed the North Yorkshire Network Childminder Scheme linking existing and newly registered child minder's together which was very successful.
Then developed a team of Network Childminders across the county who delivered 3 and 4 year funded placements, continuously assessing their practice for good high quality learning and care environments, meeting the needs of the children and parents.
I worked out of Children Centres, local community buildings, libraries and directly in the homes of childminder's.
I successfully lead other childminders to ensure they operated with the legal, regulatory ethical and social requirements, understanding policies and procedures, legislation's, data protection (confidentiality, safeguarding, quality of opportunity) by keeping up to date with best practice and legislation through Ofsted and other websites.
Then after re structure from 2012 until 2017 still working for North Yorkshire County Council 'Children and Young People's Service' I became a Family Outreach Worker on the Prevention Team.
This role was using all my skills, experiences and knowledge to effectively support children and young people in the home or within a setting of education from Pre School to Secondary School who have complex needs due to family circumstances and Behaviour, Anger Issues, Anxiety Problems, Self Harm, Hydrocephalus, Severe Hearing Impairment, Special Educational Needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Speech and Language Delay, Global Development Delay and needed my professional support on a 1-2-1 basis or within a group.
As you can see I do have a very wide practical and varied knowledge based understanding of how to support, identify and work together in a variety of ways incorporating different strategies to support each complex need of the child or young person in a positive manner with good outcomes for them and their families.
I am confident when working with a range of professionals ( Early years Advisory Teacher, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Physiologist, Clinical Physiologist, Paediatric Consultants, Play Therapists, Portage, Autism Sensory Team, Disability Action Team) and organisations ( Child and Adult Mental Health Service, Children s' Social Care Team, Police, IDAS, Health Care Team)

Can't thank Jayne enough Amelia has the best speech she knows her numbers and words I wouldn't of though she would know she's only 2. Jayne has advised or helped me when ever I need it Amelia is coming on great. Just the best thank you 😊
Jayne and Samantha are absolutely fantastic. In the time my son has been with Jayne I've seen his social skills grow from a point of genuine concern to him being completely fine outside of my care. His confidence has grown so much that just today he attended a football class of complete strangers and flourished something I just don't think would of been achievable without the attentive care Jayne has shown my son and every child that visits her home.
Jayne genuinely cares about each individual child and caters to their needs, tailoring activities to their interests.
The communication is excellent, Jayne is always there to offer advice and support.
Overall I highly recommend Jayne and Sam, I'm always singing their praises to anyone with children.
I can not put into words how amazing Jayne and Samantha are! My little boy used their service for almost 3 years and he adores them! They are like our extended family.
The time and effort they put into each child is phenomenal. They adapt to each child’s needs.
My little boy hated his hair being cut and after numerous times trying different things, different barbers nothing worked. Jayne suggested she tried to cut his hair in a setting he feels comfortable and relaxed! It worked! He trusted her and only her to cut his hair. She goes above and beyond and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
All the food is home cooked and made with love. Her home setting is just like a nursery set up, children’s work displayed, lots of toys to help each age group. It’s just such a nice environment.
I would 1000% percent recommend anyone to use Jayne and Samantha, I just wish my little boy could stay till he was 16!
We love you Grandma Jayne and Samantha x
The impact that Jayne has had on our child has been immeasurable. Since our child joined Jayne at 9 months old, we have enjoyed a fantastic relationship. Communication is brilliant, whether it's a reassuring text message that your little one has settled on those tough hand-over mornings, or termly breakdowns of what the children will be learning next.
Jayne is supportive, has a calm, nurturing nature and has high expectations for children's behaviour. Our child felt loved and like a part of a family whilst there.
Children participate in a range of hands-on, practical activities with Jayne, and she has high academic aspirations for them, inspiring a love of learning and a sense of curiosity about the world. All of this has helped give our child such a fantastic platform to start school.
Meals are fantastic. Jayne provides a range of home-cooked meals, and children are encouraged to try a variety of foods - everything from garden-grown vegetables as snacks to more exotic dishes like paella. Our child was always exploring new tastes which has helped to expand their pallet.
I really cannot recommend Jayne enough. She has given our child the absolute best start, and I'm so thankful that we found her.
As a first time mam working full time I really struggled to find anywhere which I felt comfortable and trusted having my little one until I came across Jayne. She immediately made me feel comfortable and I trust her implicitly with my little girl. The way she cares for her is amazing, always fresh food, new activities, lots of interaction and a set routine for the children. I feel the education with Jayne is outstanding which have brought my daughter on significantly with us doing the same at home too. I always feel comfortable in asking her what I need to do and if I can do anything more from home which I always come away with new ideas and ways to help at home. My daughter loves going here and I feel completely at ease as a parent.
Thank you for everything you do Jayne I really appreciate it!
