About Me
Hi, I am a married mum of two boys (both adults now).
My husband and I run Toybox Childminding, I gained an NNEB qualification in 1995 and have been working with children since. My husband, Chris, began to work with me 2016 as the demand for childcare places grew in my setting grew. The children love Chris being here, he is a positive male role model, something which, unfortunately, is rare in early years settings. We also have an assistant working with us. Marie is an ex-childminder who has an NVQ level 3 childcare qualification and started working with children in 2010. She also happens to be my sister.
I am immensely proud of our little team and what we have achieved.
We enjoy creative play, play dough, painting, corn flour, etc. Who doesn’t love getting stuck in and messy, when I get messy I get to blame the children!! (think i'm the biggest kid of them all) I have been minding since 2011. I previously worked in a local primary school in the foundation unit. I have worked with children with all sorts of additional needs. I am also a level 2 qualified signer in BSL.
We have a purpose build cabin and play area for the children to explore as well as regular access to our own plot on the local allotment. As part of our learning, we also go on lots of trips to playgroups, parks, farms, play centres, etc.
We offer term time only contracts, holiday only contracts as well as all year round.
I accept childcare vouchers, Tax free childcare and also offer the 15 hour and 30 hour funding for 2,3,&4 year olds.
We do lots of activities indoors and out, most of all we have fun, fun, fun My aim is to make your child feel happy, secure and loved within my setting, I believe in learning through play and that children thrive where they feel safe and comfortable.
My Experience
I worked in a local primary school, in the foundation unit (age 3-5) where I worked for many years. I had a class in the nursery unit where I had to teach the children and have experience in completing paper work, observations and progress assessments, I have a vast knowledge of the EYFS.
I have experience in working with children with additional needs and also with deaf children. But with all my qualifcations and experience NOTHING has qualified me more than being a mummy myself :)
My Qualifications
I am a NNEB qualified nursery nurse and have been working with children since 1995. I have completed lots of courses within the school where I worked ECAT (every child a talker) CCLD,(to name a few) I am qualified to a level 2 in British sign language, I am first aid trained, DBS checked and recently completed a ICP course. We are always improving ourselves with new course as well as completing regular first aid and safeguarding training.
Chris also worked at the local leisure centre so is highly qualified in first aid (paramedic level) he is DBS checked and recently gained a level 3 in Childminding with a higher distinction.
Marie is DBS checked, first aid trained and has a level 3 qualification in childcare. She is also a qualified safeguard lead person.
My Availability
We are open 7.30-6pm Monday to Friday
We offer term time only, school holiday or all year round contracts.
I currently take my holidays during school holiday times, I will give you my holidays at the beginning of the year or as soon as possible, I will help you find alternative care for the weeks I am away.
I work closely with my sister (also a minder) so we cover as much as we can for each other.

All 3 of my children have been going to Emma's, the eldest of which has just left her to start school and was very sad to leave! I initially wanted a childminder who would care for my children in the same way I would if I didn't have to work and Emma does that and more. They have always been happy to go and come home (begrudgingly) with nothing but good stories to tell. Emma provides a safe, stimulating and caring environment and has always been accommodating to our needs. Emma puts her heart and soul into her setting and always goes the extra mile for her mindees. I couldn't recommend her more. Her rates are also extremely competitive, especially for parents who leave good reviews on her profile ;-)
