My Summary
About Me
I live in a 4 bed house with an enclosed child friendly garden, with my husband who is a senior civil servent and 2 daughter's aged 18 and 13 and 2 guinea pigs and a lovely indoor tortoise. Until i became a registered childminder i worked as a children's residential social worker and have experience of looking after Children from birth to teenagers.
I have been OFSTED inspected and DBS checked.
I have a playroom which has suitable toys for babies through to 11 year olds..
I provide a home from home.
My home and family are child friendly, (i take safety very seriously with all of my children) and most meals are freshly made from scratch..
I work to the EYFS..The Early Years Foundation Stage and provide a professional nurturing child-centred approach to the care i provide for all children.
Children and babies in my care have lots of opportunities for play, much of our time is spent outdoors and our play is very much a curiosity approach and Montessori centred. The children love loose part play. In the holidays we tend to go on lots of lovely day trips for example the train to Matlock, the Birmingham aquarium, Highfiefds Happy hens, the park and even had a mini sports day on the green opposite...
as well as these we have our usual gym tots baby sign music time and childminding groups, library visits and toddler groups throughout term time.
My Experience
I have experience of working with children who have 'additional needs'
Working with children in the care system within social care..
childminding children who speak English as an additional language

I have experience of working with profoundly deaf children
I have been trained in using an epi-pen for allergies (and had to use one myself)
Recently I have had to be trained in using insulin and checking blood sugars as I have had a child that has type 1 diabetes. I am confident in providing specialist care for children with type 1 diabetes.

Claire creates an environment in her home where children can be themselves and be safe. She puts in the effort to go out on adventures which ours absolutely loved, getting messy one day and going to the theatre on the bus the next! We have sent a 1, 3 and 5 yr old and she took it all in her stride, even through Covid. She was great with challenging behaviour and always discussed things openly with us. Thank you Claire 🥰

Thank you so much for the lovely review! I had so much fun looking after your 3 fabulous children.
We all miss them and you very much!
I first met Claire at a local playgroup and was really impressed with her caring nature towards the children in her care. When it was time for me to return to work, Claire was the obvious choice.
She welcomed our ten month son into her family and treats him and us as family friends. As first time parents we have been reassured by her positive approach to parenting and she can be relied upon to offer advice and practical help at all hours of the day! Claire supports any parenting decisions that we make and always puts the welfare of the children first.
Our son regularly attends local playgroups, singing groups and we are informed of his progress in a daily diary. The rate that we pay includes all activities and food so there are never any hidden costs.
We don’t have close family living near us so Claire’s flexibility is invaluable. Our son loves being with her and her family and we can’t express how thankful we are to have her in his life.

That is a question that all parents ask themselves. For me, when it came to making the decision of whom to entrust the care of my (now 11 month old) little boy, it was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. My son has now been looked after by Claire since May 2011 and I would like to share my experiences.
Although cost was never an issue when factoring the well-being of my son, Claire offers a rate that is very competitive compared to other childminders. I pay one rate, and everything is included so I know where I stand. He gets taken to many playgroups, and has so far visited a restaurant, a farm and is due to visit an aquarium next week. He is able to interact with many children on a weekly basis and gain socialization skills which will come in very handy in a few years time.
The flexibility that Claire offers is second to none. In the industry that I work in, I sometimes have to work into the evening which no-one else was prepared to cater for. Claire is happy to work with us and offer the flexibility that we need (be it an early start or a late finish).
Claire provides a wide variety of toys for my son, and has a dedicated playroom which is a veritable treasure trove for young children. She also provides us with a daily update in a special diary of his progress.
Finally, and most importantly, my son adores both her and her family who have all welcomed him with open arms. I couldn't have made a better choice for childcare for my boy, and if you are looking at this page as you need a childminder, look no further.
