About Me
Hi! My name is Lolene and I am a childminder in the Catford area.
I live with my husband and 4 beautiful daughters (29, 27, 25 and 22) in a house with a garden for children to play. I live very near to Catford and Bellingham train stations which is handy for parents who need to commute.
I have a play room with a range of toys for children to play and the space for them to run around inside when it's too cold or rainy to play in the garden!
I have many books, stories, blocks, a play kitchen, soft toys, toy animals, play dough, sensory toys... the list goes on! I use the books and toys to support children from their first words and introduction to different textures (smooth, soft, rough, velvety etc.) to creative and imaginary play.
The children use the walkers to learn their first steps and then use them to race around with each other when they're older!
I have a variety of balls, bikes, scooters and toy cars so that everyone can play from the baby to the big kids (and learn to pedal!).
We have lots of fun playing in the garden and play games like 'Hide and seek' and 'What time is it, Mr Wolf?' (The counting helps them learn to count from 1 - 20 in a fun way!). We look for ants and spiders in the garden, plant daffodils in the spring and look for different coloured leaves in the autumn.
I also have a mud kitchen where the children play with uncooked pasta and pots and pans. As well as a water table that we use on hot summer days!
We take trips to play groups, libraries, parks, museums and farms (especially during the summer) and I try to incorporate places that a child has a special interest in. For example, we made several trips to a footbridge where many trains intersect for a child that absolutely loved trains!

My Experience
I have been childminding for the past 8 years and have previously worked as a primary school teaching assistant, a nanny and have raised my own children.
I find childminding incredibly rewarding. I enjoy working with parents and playing a part in their child's learning and development. I have a chat with parents at drop off and pick up. We share the logistics of sleep and if their child ate well etc. as well as their little one's achievements and the funny moments that they did that day!
I use the 'Early Years Foundation Stage framework' and 'Characteristics of effective learning' as the basis for my approach to children's learning. I encourage children to be curious and explore - learning through play and I incorporate how each child learns best.
I do learning with the children every day (alphabet, numbers, colours, shapes, transport vehicles, fruits and vegetables) using the posters on the wall or flash cards or the Peppa Pig books etc. which ever we are gravitating towards that day!
Children come to my setting as a baby and leave as a child confident and well prepared for their next steps at nursery or reception class.

My Qualifications
I am an OFSTED registered childminder and was rated 'Good' at my last inspection.
I have a full clean UK driving license and am insured to take children on trips in my car.
I have childminding practice, food and hygiene, safeguarding, and pediatric first aid qualifications. I also keep up to date with changes to standards and best practises, undertaking optional trainings.
My Availability
I am open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm.

My Fees

My full day fee is £85.
This includes breakfast, morning snack, hot lunch, afternoon snack and drinks throughout the day.

Lolene is incredibly kind, nurturing, and provided the best possible support for our family. Her home environment is warm and welcoming, and it truly felt like a second home for my son. He was not only cared for with love but was also embraced by all of Lolene’s family members, which made a big difference in his happiness and comfort. We couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and caring person to look after our child.

My daughter started with Lyn at just over 7months and was there until she went to school. She settled quickly and was treated to a wholesome, loving, family experience that still had learning at the core. This space is clean, safe, loving and loads of fun for the kids. I considered Lyn my own guardian angel - as a single mum I couldn’t have found a better person to look after my daughter and raise her daily alongside my own values. If I could give 10stars I would. We love you Aunty Lyn.

Lolene’s childminding service was truly a second home for my daughter from the age of 1 until she started school at 4. The care and affection provided made it easy for my daughter to thrive and develop in a nurturing environment. Lolene’s dedication and warmth were evident in every interaction, fostering a bond so strong that my daughter affectionately called her "Aunty Lyn." Lolene’s childminding service is a gem, offering a home away from home experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to any parent seeking exceptional care for their child.

Our little boy started with Lolene when he was just over 1 and been there for two and a half years and he has loved every minute. Lolene (and her family) have given him a fantastic environment to grow up in, with love, care and attention to his development. It has felt much more like dropping him off with family, and we would literally run there.
Lolene has always been incredible open, friendly and welcoming and very flexible, even during the pandemic. I could not give her enough stars!

If you are looking for someone who will provide the love and affection that you thought only one of your own family members could give then this setting is for you. Lolene and her amazing family have provided a caring environment for our son for nearly three years. At a tender age (of just under one) he settled in straight away- there was never any crying or upset to deal with, in fact he looked forward to spending time at her house. Lolene did this and more, for example arranging social events for parents to get to know each other. I really can't recommend her highly enough; it was a perfect experience.

So sad to say goodbye to Lolene when we recently moved away from London.From Day 1 my daughter Grace was comfortable and happy in her care, which left me free to work with no niggling doubts or guilt.Lolene also comes with the marvellous bonus of her family, who generously support her in creating a warm, friendly " home from home" atmosphere.The children get lots of individual attention and my daughter made some lovely, kind friends who have already come to visit Grace since we moved.Lolene clearly genuinely loves kids and it shows.

It's hard to know where to begin to express our gratitude for all Lolene has done for us! She welcomed Elise into her setting at 9 months old with open arms and there she gained another family and a second home! We have watcher our daughter grow and learn, form relationships and understand the wider world & it has been just wonderful to see. Now she is a confident & bright 2 year old, ready for her next progression to nursery. She truly adores all Lolene's family and the other children, we will miss them all terribly.
We couldn't have asked for more from Lolene! She is caring, kind, loving, patient, the list goes on! She takes them on trips to local groups, parks, horniman museum to name a few and her setting is fantastic with a huge garden! She gives all the children a lovingly home cooked meal every day too!
We will forever be grateful for all Lolene has done for our family! Thank you for helping Elise grow into the beautiful girl she continues to become.
