About Me
Hi, my name is Sonia, and I am a registered childminder with OFSTED to care for up to 6 children, from newborn to 3 years old. I comply with all requirements relevant to Childminders as outlined by OFSTED. I live in the Windsor area with my husband, and 3 children. We are originally from Portugal, but have been living in the UK since 1999 !
The childcare setting I am working in is my family home, which is a four bedroom house with a secure back garden and a dedicated heated play area cabin full of fun and useful resources for a range of ages. This is where the majority of activities will take place as well as in my spacious front room.
I aim to provide quality childcare through implementing a child-centred approach in a warm, safe and friendly setting. I hope this will enable the child to fulfill their potential within a family atmosphere where they feel valued, can play, develop and learn. I will ensure each child has the opportunity to take part in activities which will teach them new things, support them in their learning and also encourage them to develop new skills. Every child will be considered individually, taking into account specific characteristics, abilities and needs. As I understand that parents are the most important people in a child’s life, I will consult with parents on all aspects of their child’s care.
My Experience
My experience with children comes from my own three, who are now 27, 22 and 15 years old as well as through being a nanny, babysitting and my childminding experience over the last 3 years.

Our 2 girls have been going to Sonia for the past 9 months. They have developed so much in such a short period of time.
They wake up every day so excited to go to such a lovely environment (Home away from Home). The care that goes into all of the children's care between Sonia and her husband is second to none. Activities are always fun and varied and as soon as the sun is out the opportunities get greater with the use of the garden.
Always being informed about our children was one of our worries but we're informed about everything they are doing.

Sonia has been a blessing and we can heartily recommend her. She has looked after our “lockdown boy” and he has blossomed. She keeps us up-to-date and often sends individual pictures to show his mood and what they’ve been up to in the day. We feel he is completely safe with her, he’s gained confidence and loves the outdoor toys and play areas. We are reluctantly leaving as our circumstances have changed but we will be keeping in touch!

When I first started looking for childminders I really didn't know what to look for however after speaking to a few and then meeting Sonia I instantly knew she was the one.
She is very caring and nurturing always puts all her effort in teaching my daughter new things and has helped making her eat better as my daughter is a very picky eater. She has away with children and it's more like a home from home.
I completely Trust Sonia and her beautiful family. Her house is very child friendly and my daughter is always very excited when we go and never wants to leave. The garden is like a little playground with a pirate ship.
Sonia is always finding new ways and new games to play and teach the children.
I very highly recommend Sonia. She is very trustworthy kind and caring

Sonia and I first crossed paths late 2020 when I was looking for a new job after having my son that January. I was recommended her by a mum at my daughters school but as a completely separate and happy coincidence, I put a post out through here and she answered - it was later it transpired this was the very same lady! We went through the meetings, paperwork, contracts, policies and she was very thorough and professional despite just starting out on her childminding journey. She was accommodating from the outset, and then she met my son and the rest is history. Her entire family welcomed him into their home with open arms, the environment is warm, homely and nurturing and she can’t do enough to make the children feel happy and at home. She even welcomed my daughter into the fold when the schools closed to lockdown and cared for her during the most difficult time in her little life, thus enabling me to find and keep a job during one of the most challenging years we’ve ever encountered. For that I will be forever grateful.
My son is so happy with Sonia, he has rarely made any fuss when I drop him to her. He loves her, she is easy going, she listens to direction and is open and honest. She tailors activities to the specifics outlined by early years and to the ages of the children she cares for. She has even overhauled her garden to make it an awesome play space for the children - they even MADE a pirate ship!
There is love and dedication towards what is best for the children in her care in every professional decision she makes and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

After searching around for a childminder I knew I had found the perfect person as soon as we met. Sonia made us feel very comfortable straight away especially as I was very nervous to
Leave my daughter as no one had looked after her because of covid. Sonia keeps us updated throughout the day which I love and provides the children with great outdoor and indoor space to play and learn. My daughter loves going and comes away so happy after having a great day with Sonia and the other children. Overall a great friendly caring reliable childminder 😊

I was anxious to leave my daughter since she has been home with me since day one, and in the current situation, i was even more anxious. Meeting Sonia she immediately put me at ease and my daughter is so happy in her care!
She constantly keeps me updated with photographs and her warm nature is second to none. I can’t recommend her enough!🥰 xxx

Sonia has babysat all three of our daughters (10, 8 & 2). She has been very reliable. Listening and acting on advice given in respect to each child. She is comfortable with the kids, probably due to the fact that she has her own, and is therefore experienced!
