About Me
Hi, my name is Selena. I am a patient, kind and caring person to children of all ages and nationalities. I love teaching children and assisting those with special educational needs, as well as those who find English a challenge.
I have worked as a Nanny for many years and now work as a Private English Tutor. I am English by birth and worked for the last 15 years as an English Tutor and qualified Nanny. I have good written references and qualifications.
As an English Tutor, I provide different methods of teaching that is interesting and fun, so that learning English is engaging and enjoyable for the student. I teach all areas of English including reading, writing, spelling, grammar and communication.
I am very adaptable to the student according to age and ability, and I will focus on areas where the student needs improvement.
I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and my other interests include reading, studying, writing poetry and playing the harp.
My Experience
I worked in Crowland Primary School for four years, gaining experience in working with nursery and reception classes. I assisted individuals who struggled with their lessons including two special needs children with behaviour and learning difficulties. Occasionally, the teachers would leave the class in my care.
Following this, I worked as a qualified Nanny for many years, looking after the children in my care, arranging play dates and also assisting with their education.
During the time I was employed as a Nanny, I took up an English teaching course with the aim of becoming an English Tutor. Eventually, I began working for tutoring agencies, teaching English mostly to foreign students.

Obtained six NTA certificates at the University of Hull.

CRB check
TESOL English teaching qualification
OFSTED registered
OU level one Childcare special needs certificate

Seline has been a stable, professional, friendly and reliable tutor for our twin girls for (almost) every week for 3 years!
She reviews and assesses our girls on a regular basis, and provides calm helpful feedback to them in a friendly manner.
Our girls always enjoy seeing her and are excelling at school - we're most greatful for the part she has played in this and are certain they are on the right trajectory should they want to pursue an academic carrier, which is likely.
We can only give her our highest recommendations!

My son really enjoyed his weekly sessions with Selena. She always worked at the right pace and level that suited him and his spellings massively improved.
Selena is professional, punctual and patient.
I highly recommend.

Selena has always been professional and amazing with my daughter, my 4yrs daughter is now more confident with her reading and her understanding of phonics.
Shame it had to end, however my daughter is now where she needs to be within her class.
I would definitely recommend Selena and will contact her in the future should the need arise.
