My Summary
About Me
My name is Joanne Matthews and my company is called Tiddlywinks Childminding. I live with my husband Neil in Leyland. We have two children, Jamie is aged 19 and Kyle is 17. I live in a four bedroom detached house with small conservatory. We have a large secure outdoor play area and garden which is not overlooked. In the warmer months there is a log cabin at the bottom of my garden that is set out with resources enabling us to work from this area and have free flow into the garden and the outdoors. My house is situated in a very quiet cul-de-sac. I do have an online page showing the types of activities we do, a look at a typical day and the sort of foods that are served.
My Experience
I have been working as a childminder since the beginning of 2009. I aim to provide care for your child in a clean, safe, comfortable, loving and home-like environment. I have been a working parent myself and fully appreciate that it can be very difficult to juggle the demands of a career with family life. I hope to work in partnership with you to ensure that you are confident that your child is happy, safe and secure whilst in my care. I believe that each child is an individual and that children should be allowed to be children, to develop at their own pace and become confident, caring people in their own right. I will aim to provide interesting and stimulating activities for children of all age groups, so that each child may have the chance of a head start in life. I meet with other childminders on a regular basis and we plan activities for all the children to do together. My Ofsted inspection report can be provided on request.
I often take the children out to experience different environments such as forest school activities, visits to the zoo, beach, parks and farms. We like to attend singing sessions, soft play areas and visits to the library for story time. I am a great believer that as a childminder I have the perfect opportunity to enable your children the chance to experience and learn by seeing things in real life. Children can learn colours by seeing them in the environment rather than just in toys, learn about animals by visiting them on farms, seeing their true size, how they smell and sound. Experiencing things in real life rather than just in plastic toys is something the children all enjoy and provides unique learning opportunities that the children then enhance in their play. Beach visits give us the opportunity to feel the sand between our toes, collect shells, build, hear the sea and explore things such as crabs and seaweed.
My Qualifications
I am a professional, qualified Registered Childminder. Prior to having my two children I studied accountancy. After obtaining my A-levels, and my AAT, I then studied ACCA. I worked at various companies in accounts roles, my last placement was for ten years as an Accounts manager in Manchester City Centre. I have since gained lots of experience working with children of different age groups and abilities. I have completed Level 3 National Diploma for working with children and young people and am an accredited childminder which means I can provide the 3 year old funded, 2 yr old funded and 9 months upwards funded childcare (parents can obtain financial support towards the cost of their childcare through the Early Years Education for either 15hrs or extended 30hrs per week depending in circumstances).
I have completed a number of courses over the last 15yrs including Paediatric first aid and Safeguarding. Details of other training courses can be provided.
My Availability
I provide childcare for Birth Upwards and will consider collection and drop off from various local pre-schools should you wish your children to share care with other settings for different learning environments and opportunities.
I also provide care for before and after school, and collect and drop off at Moss side Primary school in Leyland.
In addition to the above I also provide care during school holidays.
