About Me
Hello My name is Candice Lathaen and I am an Ofsted Registered childminder.
My home is a safe, well maintained, clean and tidy four bed detached house. Children who come to my setting have access to a fully kitted out playroom with toys, equipment and furniture just for them. Each child has their own peg to put their bag and coat, and a basket for other items. I have a large garden where we grow our own fruit and vegetables. I offer healthy snacks throughout the day.
I feel i am a perfect setting for young children as I work with very small numbers of children. I do not currently offer before and after school care.
Most mornings we are out of the house and exploring. We attend various playgroups in the community, including Wootton Wrigglers, Biddenham Under 5s, Great Denham Community Playgroup, and Riseley Rabbits. On Thursdays we attend Forrest school. We often go out on trips to the farm, zoo, museums, or soft play. I try to give the children choices about where we will visit and plan outings around their interests.
My Experience
Before having my son I worked as a Social Worker in Children’s Social Care. I worked with children from birth to eighteen years. As part of my training I also worked at a school for children with special educational needs and disabilities. My time was spent in the preschool and we followed the Early Years Foundation Stage.

My Qualifications
I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Social Work. I have a BTEC National Diploma in Care and part of this training I carried out work experience in a nursery. I have certificates in Safeguarding, Assessment, Protective Behaviours, Schemas, Early Years Foundation Stage Awareness and Attachment. Prior to starting a career in childminding I completed a CACHE Level 3 Preparing to work in home based childcare, and attended a two day Paediatric First Aid course.

Our little boy has been going to Candice since just before his 2nd birthday and he absolutly loves it. He has made new friends along the way and talks about Candice regularly. He came on leaps and bounds after going for just a few weeks, the things he learns amazes us. Going back to work for any parent is difficult but we trust Candice with our little world and never have to worry. We receive regular updates and photos of what he is getting up to during the day and she is so honest with how he is feeling. There is nowhere else like it where your child is in such a clean and homely environment with access to a beautiful garden, fully functional playroom and activities and trips out that little people can only dream about! We feel truely lucky that we found Candice and would highly reccommend.
