About Me
Hi my name is Sharan and I'm an Ofsted register childminder and have been childminding for the last 17 years. I co-mind with my husband Don, who has been registered for the past 13 years. We have a son who is now 20. We attend age appropriate groups and activity centres, nature parks,
recreation parks, farms, and soft plays, to name a few. We ensure that we are out every day with the children so that they may enjoy a variety of experiences.
Our working environment consists of a dedicated playroom which is bright and airy overlooking a secluded walled garden. Access to the playroom is via its own entrance through our gated driveway, further adding to the security for the children and internally via our kitchen. The playroom has a great selection of toys and resources that are accessible for the children to self select. We also have a variety of resources for our garden play such as ride-ons, water table, water wall, slides etc. The children have free flow access to the outdoor activities and resources.
We are located close to local amenities, Egham train station and local parks. We also provide a secure storage area for those parents wishing to leave their buggies.
We have a mini bus, which is fully equipment with appropriate car seats and buggies for our outings.
My Experience
My initial experience comes from caring for my own son and when he was younger and attended nursery I would often go into the nursery and work as a volunteer parent helper in various roles. I did this for 2 years which then led me to become a registered childminder when my son started school. I have looked after a number of children over the years from very young newborn (6 weeks) to when they leave to attend school. Each child is unique and as such I have learnt to care for them and meet their own specific individual needs.
My Qualifications
I have been graded 'Good' by Ofsted on my latest inspection, my husband also has a 'Good' grade. Other qualifications achieved are as follows:
CHip, Learning & Development Maths Workshop, Supporting Behaviour, Exploring & Investigating Workshop, Level 2 Food Safety, Safeguarding, City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma, ECL Early Communication & Language, Paediatric First Aid, Recognising & Preventing FGM, Prevent Duty, GDPR, EYFS Teaching Diploma, Supporting Children with Speech, language & communication, Mindfulness & Wellbeing. I regularly keep up to date with various legislation and relevant information regarding EYFS by subscribing to updates via various organisations.
