About Me

My name is Abaigeal, I am an OFSTED Registered childminder, I am 29 and I live in Hampton Gardens.

I am open for childminding between 8:00am to 6:00pm but also offer early drop-offs, late pick-ups, and overnight care if needed. I have a separate bedroom for children with a toddler bed and am happy to accommodate any needs of the children. I work with four assistants who have children of their own and love working with our little children, one of them has a level three childcare qualification, and our other are working on her level 2 or 3 qualification.

I have been childminding for five years now and love every minute of it! Getting to know the children and having a close relationship with their families is very important. Seeing the children excited to come to see each other in the morning is priceless. We work on being a free-flow setting, so the children decide what they want to do and play with rather than set activities that have to be done each day. A range of toys and activities are provided and we jump from activity to activity in the children’s own time. To encourage them to have ownership in their learning.

A little about my route into childminding, I have been working in childcare for 12 years while studying for my BTEC and my Degree at the University of Northampton. I have previously worked in a nursery within the toddler room, I was soon promoted to Room Leader; this was because of the hard work and determination which I portrayed in my role. I enjoy spending time with children and listening to the exciting things that they come up with, I love seeing a child achieve something that they have been working for so long to achieve. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to work from home and take my passion to another level and start my own childcare business.

I want children to have the freedom to choose what they want to do and to be able to take activities further into the everyday world, for example, if a child role plays with the trains then be able to take them to the train station and explore the real world. I love the look on a child's face of amazement at seeing something new.

I want to promote creativity allowing children to express themselves, explore different textures and explore their creativity and let them get messy, which some children are unable to do at home. I also want to promote a healthy lifestyle by providing outdoor play every, day rain or shine, to allow the children to use their energy and explore the outdoors.
