About Me
I'm an Ofsted registered Childminder in Bermondsey SE16. I offer warm home-to-home settings for children aged 0 - 10. I live on a ground floor flat with no stairs and I have a garden.
I'm surrounded by amenities such as parks, children's centres, and local shops. I am only a 2-minute walk from the main bus route on Jamaica Rd and about a 5-10-minute walk to Bermondsey station.
I provide a safe, secure, homely children service from my home. I'm energetic, enthusiastic, and friendly. I provide a warm, lovely, fun, and welcoming environment for children.
My home is clean, pet, and smoke-free with lots of appropriate age toys for the children to play with. My activities are based on the early year's foundation stage. I create activities that promote inclusion, independence, exploration, communication, and physical development.
I'm flexible; I take on children who need an odd hour here and there, a holiday play scheme, or just dropping or picking them up from school.
I complete a diary for each child so that parents can see the activities that their child has been doing.
I accept childcare vouchers.
My Experience
I'm a mother of 3 children and I'm passionate about having a good understanding of children's needs and using the appropriate scaffolding strategies. I've enjoyed raising my children and I've been working with children since I was sixteen started off as a babysitter which has influenced my decision to become a childminder. I enjoy looking after all ages, from all ethnic background. I believe I can provide a high-quality teaching to children to help them achieve their developmental goals and outcomes.

Avril is fantastic with children! My 2.5 yrs old daughter is in her care since over a year and she’s really looking forward to get to Avril’s place. At the beginning Sofia was emotional when I was dropping her to Avril but she assured me that my daughter is playing happily with other kids which meant a lot for me.
Avril is very caring with Sofia. I like her because she also gives me advice + encouragement when I asked her about stuff like potty training, dummy removal, toddler emotions and health issues. She helped me potty train my daughter and encouraged her to undress when getting to her place.
Avril is very professional and her interaction with kids it’s wonderful.

We are so happy with Avril as our childminder! Our daughter has been with her since she was around 11.5 months old, and in the few months she’s been in Avril’s care, she has been thriving. Avril is incredibly welcoming and flexible, always accommodating our needs, which has made the whole experience stress-free for us. The homely environment she provides has allowed our daughter to feel comfortable and secure, and we've noticed great progress in her development. Avril is thoughtful, attentive, and truly cares about the children she looks after. We couldn’t ask for a better person to care for our little one! Highly recommended!

Avril has been looking after my daughter since she was 5 months for nearly 4 months now. Avril is reliable, flexible and my daughter settled in very quickly in her settling. She’s always happy seeing Avril when I dropped her off and when I picked her up I knew she had a wonderful day. Unfortunately we will be moving out of the area so we need to say goodbye to Avril soon.
I’m really glad to have found Avril as my daughter’s childminder. With her help I always go to office with reassurance that my daughter will be well taken care of.

Avril has been part of our family since my oldest was 5 months old and has now helped transition both my children into school / nursery. She is one hundred percent reliable and professional. Her flexibility, support and advice to me as a parent have been invaluable. She is great at helping children through the difficult stages of toddlerdom and potty training. Most important of all though, she is warm and caring and provides a real family environment for the children in her care. My two love going to Avril, have made great friends there, and really feel part of her family.

Avril has been looking after my daughter Nasya by picking her up from St Joseph and sometimes when she is off school like now
And she has been the best.
Not from me and my daughter doesn’t even want to hear that Avril will not look after so this tell you a lot about her service and professionalism
I recommend her 100% even though we live in Sydenham I still travel to drop my daughter with her.

Avril is a very friendly, caring and welcoming childminder. My daughter absolutely enjoys school pick ups and spending time at Avril home after school. My daughter is always happy when I pick up and greatly enjoys interacting with the other children.
Avril has been really accommodating, as well providing a safe and healthy environment. I would highly recommend Avril to anyone looking for a reliable and professional childminder.

Thank you Mandy. A is very friendly and intelligent. We'll miss having mental math test with her, she's always welcome.
It is always difficult to leave your baby (9 months old in our case) with someone else but Avril has made the whole experience so easy for me and my son. She was very reassuring from the beginning and helped James settle in in no time. Now he has such a wonderful time with Avril and the children and comes back home happy. They always have fun activities planned, such as going to the park, the library and other play groups and James has been developing in leaps and bounds.
Avril is very caring, fun, observant and highly experienced. She sends us videos and photos of James and lets us know of the things we should pay attention to (such as Jamesie starting to walk along the furniture and wanting to pull everything from the table). We couldn't have hoped for a better experience and are very grateful to Avril and her children for making James feel so loved and happy.

Avril has been really friendly from day one. My daughter took some time to settle and used to cry at drop off, but 10 minutes late Avril would send me videos of her laughing, smiling, and playing which I found really reassuring. Avril took her on little trips to the library, which I appreciated as my daughter only went one morning a week so it was nice of her to fit that in. We just never had any problems with Avril- always reliable, there was straightforward communication and our daughter really settled there well.

My 1 year old loves going to Avril's to play. He became more social and friendly with. Avril understands the different needs of the children and will accommodate to any changes. She keeps a clean home and has toys appropriate for my baby. I love the home setting she has created for the kids. Avril is very patient and kind; I love the way she speaks gently to the kids. Her own children are polite and loves to play with the kids under her care. I highly recommend Avril to anyone who's looking for quality childcare around the area!

Avril has been my daughter’s childminder for one year, collecting her from school and looking after her for a few hours. She's a great person, caring and really lovely. Communication is excellent, house is always clean, safe and provides a good environment for children. At pick up time, my daughter looks happy, playing with other children and she's made good friends there. Avril takes kids to local parks and also has plenty of toys/activities in the house. I would highly recommend Avril as childminder.
