About Me
Bright and colourful Nursery Nurse/Babysitter available. I have a son who has flown the nest . I love music and going to gigs, festivals , cooking,reading and sewing. I love arts and crafts and have a file full of activities and display work that I have done in the past. I am reliable and punctual. I was a volunteer at Rainbows for 4-7 year old girls and had been doing so since April 2017 although I had to give it up for a paid position with Leeds City Council in july 2023. I love pets, I have a cat but I'm used to dogs. I don't drive but I can walk or get a bus/taxi within a reasonable distance. I have recently reactivated my account due to a childcare position coming to an end after 4 years. I can supply 2 references from previous employers
My Experience
I have a broad range of experience, from working with premature babies, special needs and young people the past 25 years although I took a few years out to be a housewife which I wasn't very good at!! Im currently a support worker to a child with a chromosome disorder who is peg fed and a teenager with autism, epilepsy and other complex needs. I worked with a girl with Downs Syndrome until recently. I worked for Reed Care for some years in a wide variety of settings including schools for SEN, children's centres, children in the care of the local authority, respite care units, children whose parents were in homeless shelters and children displaying challenging behaviour.
My Qualifications
I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1996 (my diploma is in my maiden name) I have a safeguarding young people certificate and a current enhanced DBS along with doing a paediatric first aid course. I have 2 files full of activities I've done over the past 20 years which can be adapted for all age ranges and abilities
My Availability
I'm free pretty much any time apart from some Saturday and Sunday day times along with Wednesday and Thursday after school- I do permanent support work via Leeds City Council on these days. I'm available for overnight sitting, sleeping or waking nights as well as New Years Eve. Please note I am not a registered childminder so I'm unable to accept childcare vouchers.

Jo73 is absolutely amazing. She took care of my daughter effortlessly. My daughter had a great time with her playing and laughing the whole time.

Joanne was fantastic with our daughter and made myself and my partner comfortable with leaving her to care for her, especially as this was our first time leaving her with a sitter. Joanne instantly started interacting with our daughter and quickly got her playing, which, given how shy she can be with strangers was a brilliant start. Highly recommend.
